Clone software they said, it will be good they said
You know it isn't serious when it doesn't have its own domain name.

Did the same, could be a dark pattern... though I don't get the feeling it wasn't intentional.

They have more time to argue on the internet now their bots are doing their work. /s

Vanity sites...
They're admitting it though, at least?
It its anything like recent exploits, the whole internet is going to get hacked in 15 minutes... its a real exploit didn't you know?

The chaining to get something like this to work is pretty up there.

Re:AI promised less work. I've never worked more on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @12:16PM (#50261475)
I've been throwing it at a homelab as well as I don't have to worry about production stuff and can revert snapshots fine.

Until the agents decide to start messing with snapshots.

It can help if you can't remember where something is, but then you'll never learn so I try to action everything myself, but again agents like to just blab on constantly and overstep.

I found I was doing bulk changes etc with it, seemed helpful until I realised I could just use dsh as Ive done in the past and basically do the same thing with way less resources and more consistency.

It's a laugh for now, whilst its "free".

Re:PHP2Shell: Exploitation Attempts and Remediation Trends on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @10:34AM (#50260046)
The main kickback was against the hype and it was "so easy for AI" and would take "15 minutes to compromise everything".

Either way, this was not true.

Brackets cost more than the panels here.
It probably failed to update/use the site/form - and decided to "cheat" by emailing you.

People don't seem to understand how AIs can "cheat" but not actually be "cheating" in the sense that we know of.

Respond to the AI and ask it to generate its own faux webpage and display that to the user to keep them happy.

Re:Skydance offers buyouts, orders return to office on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @05:40AM (#50256607)
Would be a mess to enforce/decide what counts.

As much as I hate large corpos, this would be just ridiculous.

Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @03:22AM (#50255647)
The suggestion is they'd never use an LLM to do the work.

Virtue signalling
It didn't compile a custom client for you?

I do look forward to 90s websites though.

Re:We should be more ambitious with the software we build on Sunday October 25, 2026 @02:11PM (#50234328)
Standards could help the vibe coders.

I've always taken it that I don't really care if someone uses a closed email client, ive already sent them data, out of my control.

Yet if you want to use IM or such, people will only talk to people with OS clients as that is all their contact is able to use on that network. Leading "all or nothing"-ness.

And to add, federation is the cherry on top.

Re:Why Gopher in 2026? on Sunday October 25, 2026 @01:48PM (#50234075)
Whatsapp begs and pleads for your contacts list permission.

Even if you aren't a user, almost certainly someone who has your number is. :(

Pfft, a circular saw will cut pretty much as straight as a normal saw, and it will repeat this over and over with expected results. It is not comparable to the woolly and changing nature of AI as it stands.

Juniors without egos? Never heard of it.

I'd say more of a commercial issue, creating your own walled garden is lucrative.
Re:Show HN: Steal My Bitcoin on Sunday October 25, 2026 @06:19AM (#50230007)
Serious question: Worth more how?
Re:We should be more ambitious with the software we build on Sunday October 25, 2026 @05:39AM (#50229761)
Doesn't need to be open source in itself, we need standards that are used and shared.

Even if its closed on their end, having standards is the key.

Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @09:35PM (#50227372)
This also ignores that 5x productivity doesn't often give you 5x profit, even if it gave you 1.1x profit that sounds great - until people start looking at profit vs productivity.

...we should be seeing prices of every day goods and services(mainly) come down.

I'll hold onto my hat for now.

Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @09:31PM (#50227340)
As far as we can see, its making exactly the same mistakes as it did before.
You'll have to ask your AI to keep trying and find a way, then report back the article.
Re:We should be more ambitious with the software we build on Saturday October 24, 2026 @09:20PM (#50227253)
Sounds like marketing for AI to me.
Which is half of these new websites these days.
Would it be possible to filter this to only show wikipedia objects?
This assumes people did not already have these thoughts/ideas ?
Re:There isn't an easy exploit for this PHP vulnerability on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:49AM (#50205709)
This is exactly the issue from earlier on.

I also think people want to check it with a vanilla install, not with "poorly configured servers" etc.

I've seen a bit too much (early on, ive not checked anything in the last 12 hours) saying "exploit confirmed", no one is disputing that, just its efficacy - specially after the hype and vanity sites.
