Nifty, I’d still buy a European EV though, to support local businesses.

After having de-Googled and reading people’s experiences trying to run Argon 4, I think I’ll pass.
Re:Programming Isn't Special on Saturday October 10, 2026 @12:21AM (#50029538)
To me, something is art if someone considers it art, whether that’s music, a painting, or code. That doesn’t mean everyone has to appreciate it or even see it as art themselves. Absolutely you loose access to parts of programming if you don’t do it on a regular basis.
Re:Programming Isn't Special on Friday October 09, 2026 @11:59PM (#50029414)
Lots of visual artists hate people remixing their work. Using copyrights and watermarking their art to the point where it detracts from the art.

It totally is a difference in culture. Maybe not everywhere but I would generally say developers release more work open then visual artists do.

The card counting is harder since we can hide which cards were top decked or held since the start by just rearranging/shuffling our hand. We could have 0-4 counters or setups waiting for the gating decision.

The possible game state is also much larger than poker. Deck construction alone is 60 cards out of about 30,000 unique cards. Sure, not all cards are viable in all decks, but we can have 1-4 copies of a card in our deck.

So we might not even know if we’re playing against mono-red or multicolored since the decklist is unknown. You can think you’re playing mono-red and then they suddenly play a Plains. Poker at least always has the same 52 cards to reason about.

I do think AI could be great at coming up with decklists though.

Re:Apple announces changes for apps in the European Union on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @11:27PM (#49356316)
We both know that the market share refers to the smartphone market share of which Apple has about 21%.

For iPhone apps Apple is way behind with about 0.005% of the total 2.17 million iPhone apps.

That wouldn’t hold up in court and you would be jailed. Your intent is still to provide the illegal model.
Re:I Changed My Name on Thursday July 09, 2026 @07:07PM (#48853596)
Sweden actually removed middle names. I believe now you can have 1–2 last names, 1+ first names and 0 middle names. You can choose a given name that you are called which can be different than the first names but usually isn’t.

This causes problems with forms and at airports that don’t allow for Swedish name rules.

I guess I’ll keep walking, biking and using public transport.
Your explanation is what I would expect the article to cover. The article clearly has failed to provide meaningful context.
This is an impressive system and great that it’s put to good use by eliminating terrorists.

We are using HTML and not XHTML. I have not used XML on websites in over 15 years when HTML5 got stable.

We used Adobe InDesign at my last work, which I believe is an industry standard. Affinity Layout if you don’t want to sell your kidney to Adobe. Scribus is an open source project but I’m not sure how the quality is in that.

Love Flameshot! Been using it for years since its cross platform so it works on macOS at home and Windows at work.

Volvo, SAAB, Renault, Volkswagen, Audi
I have not used WP in a while but will recommend clients to not use WP Engine. The more I read about them the more they sound like grifters.
Re:I don't want to fill out your contact form on Saturday May 04, 2024 @02:16PM (#40259321)
I have started searching for “@company-url.tld” to find a public email instead of using contact forms
Re:Gemini Ultra now available in Google Bard on Saturday February 10, 2024 @03:44AM (#39324635)
This would have been exciting if coming from a company that you can trust to keep services alive and not sell your data.

Re:What is your “Orange Juice Test” question? on Monday October 02, 2023 @11:08PM (#37747521)
Yeah you just failed, and if it was my country you would be reported to the Public Complaint Board and fined for probably breaking contract and false advertisement.
Come live in Sweden! Most cities have a "City Net" which is municipal fiber. I recently moved apartments and the new place had both coax and fiber. I just went on an ISP website input my apartment details and two days later I had 500/500 Mbps for $39.14 / month.

One can also use a compare service like Bredbandsval ("val" means both choice and whale) https://www-bredbandsval-se.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=sv&_x_t...

“No, it’s a special bottle“ The guest asked and got an answer. Is it tacky and reeks of entitlement, Yes, it does not haves to become awkward
I used Midjourney to generate some icons and then remove.bg to get rid of the background.
Re: on Tuesday April 25, 2023 @10:51PM (#35709219)
This is one reason why I watch esports. The game makers see it as advertisement for their game so they pay for the leagues and shows.

I can watch all of it on YouTube or Twitch for free.

Here in Sweden my employer reports my income tax and my investments app reports capital gains, to the Tax Authority. Last week I could log in, review the data, and e-sign it in less than 5 minutes. It turns out that I payed 53.80 dollars to much tax last year. Since I filed my taxes early (before March 30) they will pay it back on April 6 (instead of June 9).

There is in lots of countries…
Sweden's Swish says hej
For best programmer that might be to learn more Data Structures and Algorithms. Maybe try some LeetCode. See if you can find a senior programmer to be your mentor.

For best developer, I think it is good to learn a bit about each team member's role. Learn some UX design, Scrum Master, Tester, Product Owner and Database Admin. You don’t need to learn enough to be able to do their job but enough to understand how and what they work with.

Keep learning programming, more languages, you come from the web, learn some Golang, Rust, Elixir, Python, to learn different paradigms. Do some side projects about things that you are passionate about (I play Dungeons & Dragons so I have built tools and websites to help with that).

Maybe get a job at a consultancy, you get to work with different clients in different domains and learn a lot.

But as others have pointed out, don’t burn yourself out. It sucks and takes a long time to come back from. Godspeed

Re:Ask HN: How do you celebrate your birthday? on Friday July 29, 2022 @07:18AM (#32275537)
After work I buy myself a one-portion cake or muffin, plant a lit candle into it and wish for something.
