Nah, low center of gravity with nimble handling is better. I'll take an all wheel drive S4, ATS, C class or 3 series over an SUV any snowy day. Sport sedans have swagger too, the only swaggerific SUVs are the Escalade, Cullinan, Urus, Porsche SUVs. But those are out of the price range most of humanity can afford to buy within. I have never had a problem seeing traffic.

What percentage of ships had fires in their coal holds on the day the titanic launched, by your estimation? I'm struggling to understand how rare a persistent coal fire was during that era. Would they in deed be forced to burn the coal, would this also force a high speed? If I'm to believe what LEO has me, speed is an enormous factor in all accidents, one of the most impactful variables, reduce it to 0 and you get the authors point.

What services do the middlemen provide? Are those services truly unneeded or will the farmer have to develop those skills and/or outsource to a different company? It seems like there is an opportunity here when viewed through traditional product distribution eyes but can a farmer ship direct to customer, organize bonds and insurance, navigate the futures markets?

Re:Are Blockchains the Answer for Secure Elections? Probably Not
on Thursday August 16, 2018 @06:24PM (#17778909)
This removes the cryptography aspects, which is what keeps the system and results verifiable after the fact. Of course the votes can be counted and statistical estimations of accuracy can be used to attempt to detect fraud but that can also be performed AFTER each individual vote is recorded on a blockchain. In fact the only reason not to utilize blockchain technology in election processes is to ensure the results can be manipulated.

Excellent point, when you perform that thought experiment you end up with a set of technologies so close to a blockchain it actually makes sense to just use a blockchain.
