Whew, don’t need Early Life section for this one.

There is nothing scary about being genuinely OK with violence.

Preach.

They didn’t skip over it. This was specifically chosen as a path by those in charge because they’re set on ruining our peaceful way of living for their personal gain.
It is not a belief unfortunately. We’ve all been through it.
We are not allowed to discuss the underlying factors. So we won’t.

I think the commentary here is mostly in agreement, we are just debating the finer points.

This should have happened already, is the general theme. I still have my Shrike CDs around and the modern-day Fedora (I think 44 is about to launch next week?) is more than sufficient for many, many use cases within the government, regardless of which distro they end up with.

My hope is that the backing of EU software development teams to open source will lift all boats and in addition to Linux, BSD may get some fruits of labor out of it.

9front as always is to be strictly forbidden without a security clearance.

A Hegel just flew over your house.

Did HN not prohibit/restrict A.I.-driven Show HN entries?
It’s also that so many real-world use cases of BSDs entirely avoid these issues. If they were dominant concerns they would be addressed in a very professional manner, like the rest of the system. But the target market for these things just doesn’t overlap. Maybe there is a market for a BSD-esque approach to solving these things, but honestly? Meh.
Yeah you run into this head on trying to use BSD. It’s too much glue and compat work. By the end of it you no longer have a coherent system, you’re back to Linux.

I use FBSD on an old-ish Lenovo W540 without too many hiccups. No, it’s not for everyone and never was. I wouldn’t suggest to anyone to run a BSD as a daily driver, or at all, unless they have a good reason to. Once you cross that line you need to know what and why.

Yeah I read through it but all of that is surface level. Any real insider info?

Not sure why I was downvoted. I read the post and the linked articles.

What’s the story with Klarna? Any details around it?

Can someone in plain English please tell us what this company does? I just see one anecdote after another that’s scattered with feel-good whodathunkit babble. I was anticipating the airplane holes analogy, but maybe I got lucky and missed it.

No mention of vtables or thunks? We decided to proceed with another candidate.
Even though HN now restricts Show HN to not include AI submissions, the new section is chock full of them. There’s no winning here.
It’s more than likely not.

> That Casio that the author mentions

At the risk of sounding snide, thank you for mentioning this. I am going to skip this article, so you probably saved me a bunch of time.

I’ve heard lots of music like this over the years. It’s catchy, the lyrics are very relatable to the audience of people who like this music. It might not be your thing, but it is certainly enjoyed by many, and there are albums written around this subject. Folk/blues are made of this subject.

Is it over all flat and boring? Somewhat. You can only hear the same thing so many times before it gets tiring.

Probably!
