Would be nice if they put some work into their Apple Watch app too. Especially after they made such a big deal out of it with that website.
For merges and other finicky git actions I’ve been increasingly turning to Atom instead of the commandline. I like how it auto-formats my commit messages to line wrap and how it makes highlighting merge conflicts easy.
For everything else these days I use VSCode.
Agreed. It always takes me several tries to update using the "Restart and Install" button.
Google does support U2F on Firefox. Just not for registering the key.
I just wish it wasn’t so tedious to version control Jupyter notebooks. I always try and clear the output before I stage it so I don’t have large binaries of plots or figures that were generated.
Is there a downside to including the actual unicode emoji versus the text version that needs to be rendered? I tend to go for the former.
I agree. I think it’s a mistake in the article. The author most likely saw that LastPass supports Yubikeys and thought that was the same as U2F?
I believe this can also be done in your ssh config file which would confer the added benefit of having the alias available to scp and rsync.
I'm glad that they have released support for the Web Authentication API. Hopefully I won't need to use Chrome for websites I choose to be more secure with.
Although, with a quick look it seems like I still can't use U2F with Google on Firefox.
This is actually not recommended:
And while the C.D.C. recommends washing all produce with water, including heads of lettuce, it does not recommend washing other forms of bagged lettuce, which has already been washed before bagging. “Your chances of contaminating it in your kitchen” — with contaminants that may already be on your kitchen countertop, hands or elsewhere — “are actually higher than if you didn’t wash the salad greens,” notes Dr. Gieraltowski.

High performance computing (HPC) is a specific field. Fast communication between compute nodes is very important and you won't get that on GCP or AWS where you may get 10gbs at the max. Most of the fast simulation codes are bounded by communication time between nodes.
Although, Azure is currently doing some HPC offerings.

If the person already knows markdown, Pandoc is a great option [0]. I find it really useful for creating pdfs. I haven't used it to create official documents that often, but I have used it to create Beamer slides and it was a very smooth experience. If you're an advanced user and you want to do something LaTeX-specific you can just write LaTeX inline and Pandoc will accept it.

cmd+f,"u2f" or "webauth"
Nothing.. I wonder when they'll ever get to fully supporting u2f (probably via webauth) so I don't have to use Chrome to log into certain websites.
Firefox barely supports U2F. It works on Github and Dropbox, but doesn't work on sites like Vanguard and Google. Every time I do a Firefox update I do a search of the bug listing and they seem to have an incomplete implementation of the spec. They're kicking the can until they fully implement the WebAuth API and jump over dealing with whatever earlier spec they were targeting.
Speaking of which, why does Vanguard force you to still have SMS two factor available even when you add a U2F device...
Unfortunately, doesn't work with Google yet... It does work with Dropbox and Github though.
You can make the tab bar and url bar smaller by going to the menu > customize > density > compact.
Even the scrolling on macOS is more smooth!
I noticed that too and that would definitely be a shame to have such a downgrade.
I see how Dropbox is trying to diversify their prices based on features. But honestly, they should try to compete harder with providers like Apple and Google by providing different storage tiers. Apple has 2TB for the same $9.99/mo Dropbox provides 1TB. At this point Dropbox has me mostly because of inertia and their reliability.
This is good. Too bad it they don't have the new extension available yet. For the few minutes I had the Firefox beta it seemed pretty awesome. It actually was seeming to be competitive with Chrome on macOS.
Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I would probably have switched to 1password once they raised their prices, but at least my employer pays for lastpass for me.
For people who use password managers, beware that lastpass's extension is not compatible with the new release. Found that out the hard way.
Anaerobic exercise is probably good for you too, but for what it's worth, the article was talking about specifically aerobic exercise.
Sometimes universities have weird rules about automating the actual sign up process versus automating being notified.
+1 for seaborn plots. Seaborn makes really pretty plots that are usually better than my lab-mates' in matlab.
That does look pretty similar! But I think the CULC has more glass and brick on the outside.
