Nothing intellectual to say, but this is not the future most Americans want. Privatized social credit system incoming?
Re:You should know this before choosing Next.js on Wednesday March 26, 2025 @10:32AM (#43482682)
Well shoot. I just started a new Next.js project least week. What's everybody's go to alternative?
Not always true. I've coached people to stay before and they are still at the company. Sometimes they have concerns that actually could be fixed from management. People are complex and have many different reasons for wanting to leave, some fixable some not.

That's a service that manages OAuth2 for you, for $ at scale

Re:How to Lose Stars on GitHub? on Friday December 03, 2021 @11:29AM (#29431812)
When you click the button to make a repo private, you first have to acknowledge that you will lose all of your stars among other things. Losing stars is literally the first bullet point. Then you have to type the repo name as acknowledgement before you can make private. PR stunt?

Make private:

Hide this repository from the public.

    You will permanently lose:
All stars and watchers of this repository.
All pages published from this repository.
Dependency graph will remain enabled. Leaving them enabled grants us permission to perform read-only analysis on this repository.

Re:How did software get so reliable without proof? on Tuesday March 03, 2020 @07:18PM (#22480077)
Probably money? If there is money to be made somebody is going to find a solution that mostly works
Well, sure. It's not like a human is on the other end checking the final "ok" before throttling somebody's data speed because they have exceeded some threshold.
So is GitLab the new GitHub for opensource?
Thanks, this is why I spot check the comments before opening the article
Link doesn't work for me. I tried using Zuul + Jenkins before as a multi-master Jenkins solution, it was easy to set up but the lack of synchronized build numbers between masters made it a no-go.
May the best app win as usual ;)
Born in 91. I would never do this.
Re:De-Googling my phone on Friday May 04, 2018 @07:29PM (#16999265)
I thought hound was dead? There was hype a couple years ago but have never heard anybody using it since. It's not nearly as integrated with IOT as Assistant or Siri.
Re:Things I’ve learned using serverless on Friday May 04, 2018 @07:17PM (#16999204)
The trade-off is cost. The article even mentions they drove down the operational cost at least 70%. You can still run whatever open source library in the lambda that you need (still need to ask, is it with the extra bytes), but yea, you are betting big with AWS. GCE serverless is way behind right now.

Wow, you've tarnished that client's reputation forever in my mind. How many "drafts" went out?

Am I missing something? Beaker requires you to use their browser? Not really apples to apples
