People said the same thing about SolarWinds, Lenovo (Superfish), CrowdStrike... Nothing will happen.

Re:Anthropic hacked to deliver remote access trojan on Friday October 30, 2026 @09:35AM (#50303672)
No worries, it's very unexpected. I just remembered because I did the same thing last week and was surprised it worked.

>Also, all their tags are immutable, and so can't just be deleted to hide things

Yes they can, they can remove the release and then remove the tag.

>If you delete the immutable release, you can delete the tag, but you cannot reuse the same tag name.

No.
Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:50PM (#50277867)
Not the poster but I'm also still using my M1 Max 32 GB RAM Macbook bought at the end of 2022 (yes, just right before the M2 Max...) and see no reason to buy another. Also paid 3400 (euros).
Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @01:47PM (#50277805)
Just look at Windows 8?

Add 2€ to that for the new handling fee from 1st November onward.

Of their engineers or lawyers division? ;)
Re:F-Zero X on Nintendo 3DS on Monday October 26, 2026 @04:58AM (#50241002)
Most people use an EmuMMC to avoid bans. I think the bigger issue is that most Switch consoles need a hardmod.

Ah the classic "do better" reply. Don't worry, I know your kind too well :)
Re:The Missed Opportunities of Sonic 06 on Friday October 23, 2026 @04:00PM (#50214520)
Sonic 06 can maybe be fixed at a technical level but not at gameplay level, yeah. Tortured myself by playing it through it twice and when you do know how to handle the game (don't do XY or the game freaks out, avoid jumping here, don't touch the analogue stick here...) a few Sonic parts can be quiet enjoyable but the rest of the game is such a shitshow. I even played ALL of the side quests for Sonic's part and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a videogame. It's interesting to read about the development and people trying to "fix" it though.
Re:Today, we hacked what we'd set out to hack: the iPhone on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:45PM (#50214361)
Marketing by security researchers and companies has gotten unbearable. They only want their name out there and not actually make devices more secure.
Re:Jailbreaking the Switch 2 on Friday October 23, 2026 @10:02AM (#50209186)
Don't forget your tinfoil hat.
Re:Jailbreaking the Switch 2 on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:37AM (#50205629)
They can (and will) ban you from online services (the console, not the account). No, they won't brick your console remotely (blown out of proportion from a sentence in the EULA that's there since the Wii days and other vendors also have it)
Re:Jailbreaking the Switch 2 on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:33AM (#50205599)
No because they don't use the eShop infrastructure.
Re:Quad9 (DNS Resolver) to Exit France on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:25AM (#50205532)
Depends on how old you are :D

Lately? Did you forget the rootkit they installed on everyone of their customers PCs?

Re:No More Icons in Every Menu by Default on Thursday October 22, 2026 @07:57AM (#50194130)
Slightly related but what really grinds my gears in modern UI design is: Monochrome icons where you don't know what it's doing. I'm feeling like an old man that doesn't know how to use a computer when I'm hovering over the icons to hope for a tooltip (that is often forgotten) that explains what it does and hope it's not a destructive one when clicking it. This somehow got worse over the years with every program inventing its own icons and meanings.
Re:PHP 8.2.35 on Thursday October 22, 2026 @05:33AM (#50193183)
This is not the same? Reply-all is mostly just "please unsubscribe" or "why did I get this email". Here people try to be funny and "be part of it".
Re:Way to Play Super Mario 64: On Apple Vision Pro on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @06:10PM (#50188361)
No first-party game is a Game Key Card and without them, the rest of them would just be digital without a store-release. No store has yet shut down, you can still download bought games from the Wii Shop from 20 years ago. And GKC aren't tied to the eShop infrastructure. Nintendo did the least damaging thing while still giving gamers the option.

Re:DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @10:22AM (#50166893)
Anyone who compares DeepSeek to Claude can't be taken seriously. I'm rooting for open-source models of course but DeepSeek is so much worse than Claude, it's not comparable.
Re:Namecheap just seized and disabled all my domains on Monday October 19, 2026 @05:25AM (#50150233)
Just disable "Universal SSL". But yeah, it's unexpected.
Re:Verisign .com Domain Name Registry Consumer Class Action on Monday October 19, 2026 @03:02AM (#50149240)

Re:Last rites for Gentoo's Chromium package on Saturday October 17, 2026 @07:48AM (#50130237)
NTA but why so hostile? What do you even mean by "real work" and "real hardware"? And what has this to do with Linux compile times? Linux compiles way faster than Chromium in general.
This + when it constantly leaks prompts and implementation details. E.g.:

>No sudo, no telemetry, about 1.3% of one core.

You just know the prompt the author sent. And of course the absolute classic:

>No ps, no powermetrics, no scraping.
