Explaining to a junior dev how the terminal streams output from the bottom and must be scrolled up to find earlier output from the build makes me feel old

Re:Goodbye from a Linux Community Volunteer on Thursday October 24, 2024 @08:27AM (#41934813)
Sanctions have effectively improved the situation for Russia and the World outside the G7, so I reckon this new round of sanction elevators is going to be a huge detriment to the West and frankly Russia will be better off realising that the West is self-destructing

Sounds like a job for Vim, written by an Emacs zealot.

Vmax? Yeah that sounds kinda cool actually.

I'd doubt any 'mental model' the author possesses after seeing the hero banner on their website.

Using this architecture with htmx is the future

https://cirw.in/blog/time-to-move-on

I use a fun little hack, a la awk:

``` #!/usr/local/bin/bash
echo "HELLO"
TAIL_REMOTE_MARKER=`awk '/^__THE_REMOTE_PART__/{flag=1;next}/^__END_THE_REMOTE_PART__/{flag=0;exit}flag' ${0}`
eval "$TAIL_REMOTE_MARKER"
exit 0
__THE_REMOTE_PART__
echo "WORLD"
__END_THE_REMOTE_PART__ ```
Re:Ask HN: How many of you are open to Piracy again? on Friday January 06, 2023 @06:28AM (#34273555)
Internet pirates, once thought defeated, Have made a comeback, and now they're heated. No longer just about music and movies, They've found new ways to share and reuse.
They hide in the shadows of the dark web, Stealing passwords and login info, it's a fad, web. But it's not just about the money, you see, It's about the thrill of breaking the rules, can't you agree?
Streaming services are the new target, Subscription fees, they want to circumvent it. But the entertainment industry won't let them win, They'll fight back with all their kin.
So beware, internet pirates, the law is hot on your trail, Streaming services are here to stay, no need to wail. Better to pay for what you watch and listen, Than to risk it all and end up in prison.
Re:Ask HN: An advice that changed your life? on Saturday October 29, 2022 @04:13PM (#33387556)
"Now is the time to get serious about living your ideals. How long can you afford to put off who you really want to be? Your nobler self cannot wait any longer. From this moment on, vow to stop disappointing yourself. Separate yourself from the mob. Decide to be extraordinary and do what you need to do – now."
