Have you ever talked through a problem with a rubber duck? Or written in a journal? I think it's the same idea

Could you use preexec + tee?
My new vocabulary word for today: Hormesis is a two-phased dose-response relationship whereby low-dose exposures have a beneficial effect and high-dose amounts are either inhibitory to function or toxic.

So just have it ring only for people you know

Do you feel obligated to open every email you get, or do you just read the ones from people you know?

My first thought was "awesome, what project can I start that uses ten of those cables?"

I'm seeing some pretty cool projects for bird detection with YOLO online. They may do more than you need; you probably don't care about the kind of bird, right?

Maybe it would be worth it to spend a few tokens on an implementation, just to try!

I hope this never happens, but if one day a cell in your colon maximizes its short-term replication at the expense of the long-term stability of the system it depends on, I hope nobody tells you it's fine because it's "natural."
I'm curious if you could free yourself of the ongoing llm cost by using YOLOv8 or opencv or something like that

Grepping /usr/share/dict/words shows 110 words that have five letters and the same letter 3 or more times, e.g. sassy, added, daddy, nanny, melee, levee, mummy
Kind of an okay job, but they could do better. I might feel differently if I lived in Tibet, Hong Kong, Xinjian, Myanmar, etc.

I think the grass is always greener on the other side, and I'm glad that you're a good person.

Maybe. There are a lot of online games where nothing is worth anything, but I don't think those are default high-trust societies. People will log in just to annoy the other players.

I remember something about someone trying to do a photo shoot with candles in abandoned cars in a junkyard

I don't trust a robot with my privacy, but I know Linette isn't building a profile of my shopping habits and Wi-Fi traffic. She is also careful to not let my cats out.
It's also cheap shibboleth for communities - if you talk like we talk then you're one of us
Re:How many of the 170k English words do you know? on Saturday June 20, 2026 @07:47AM (#48608527)
When I got "sanguine" wrong, I realized a huge portion of my vocabulary came from Magic: The Gathering. I'd guessed "red-faced and angry" because "blood-soaked" wasn't an option.

    Turnips dream beneath the loam,
pale moons tucked in earthen foam.
Winter hums, the roots lie still,
    sweet and stubborn under hill.

Re:Show HN: 3D print Z reinforcement via injected loops on Sunday June 14, 2026 @08:03PM (#48534585)
There are pictures of a similar technique in this paper: https://www.osti.gov/servlets/purl/1808415

It was done with manually-written gcode though.

Re:Show HN: 3D print Z reinforcement via injected loops on Sunday June 14, 2026 @08:01PM (#48534560)
There's a YouTube video out there of someone doing this with a long (airbrush?) nozzle that is inserted into those empty spaces.
Re:Show HN: 3D print Z reinforcement via injected loops on Sunday June 14, 2026 @04:53PM (#48532559)
I think that's called z-pinning, and it might not be because of patents. I'm not sure though.

>Nothing says human connection as much as scheduled meeting and necessity to have scheduled meeting to get or provide context.

I understand your point, but that also describes a date.

The form of a tool guides its use. You can tell what a hammer is for just by picking one up.
>What if AI could fill all those gaps, handling mechanical compliance while we focus on the human work?

Idk boss, the perceptron said there weren't any bugs so I shipped it

I think it's more about the way things are vs the way things "should" be.

e.g "teens are going to experiment with sex, so comprehensive sex education is the best way to keep them safe"

vs

"Teens should not have sex, so abstinence-only education is the best way to keep them safe"

"Generations of spiders" threw me there, I thought you were talking about web crawlers.
