This is an astroturfing article meant to hypnotize the reader into thinking fiat currency controlled by private banks is a good thing. Its purpose was to normalize this idea of money and grease the tracks for the Federal Reserve Act that would be rammed through congress a few months later.

It sounds like you know the reason we should swallow those specific chemicals? Perhaps you'll be the first here to answer the question.

Imagining sinister ulterior motives behind an innocent question seems like something a conspiracy theorist would do.

Edit: Just to be clear, you shouldn't assume that my comment being gray means it was unanimously downvoted. I saw it losing three points for every two gained, meaning roughly 40% of HN shares my curiosity.

Apple's latest Magic Keyboard is an atrocious piece of garbage whose keys are so sensitive that they trigger when you breathe on them. Apparently Tim Cook thought it would be a good idea to make this the only keyboard you can buy from Apple and cancel the old model that humans could actually use. I bought one of the older ones from Amazon and now I get to worry that it's going to be a counterfeit that phones all my keystrokes home to China. Nice world we're building here.

Teams are spontaneously disbanded and their projects are moved to other countries because it prevents people who share the same allegiance or ideology that runs counter to Google's from conspiring to hide "accidental" exploitable bugs in the code which could later be used to damage the company. The project gets audited by the next team's fresh eyes and if an exploit is found then it is patched and can be traced back to the moles who can then be monitored or fired. Rinse and repeat until launch.

Grammarly's ad links directly to an immediate single-click-to-install page for their suspicious browser extension whose fine print asks for total access to look at your private webpage data, keystrokes, ability to inject mysterious scripts into every single page you visit, including email, banking, cryptocurrency exchange login pages, etc. With over 10 million active installations, they could easily use this absurd amount of power to profit in a shady manner. The ROI for their ad spend must be incredible because the average tech-naive person just has to fall for it once and then this extension is installed for the remaining lifetime of their computer. The whole thing has a stench similar to the Hola browser extension botnet incident.

Anyone who takes security/privacy seriously shouldn't install any Chrome extension under any circumstances. Many extensions secretly do terrible things that take months or years for anyone to uncover, or the extension is simply sold to a new owner who slips in a malicious payload which is automatically distributed to all users of the extension.
I find it strange how everyone used to be concerned about XSS exploits (including Google themselves who painstakingly implemented reflective XSS prevention, nonce support, and support for XSS-blocking HTTP headers in Chrome) and now they all love XSS as long as it has decent marketing and a clean presentation as an "extension".

What magic combination of words did you utter to get the antibiotics you needed? I had a terribly painful bacterial infection once, and six urgent care clinics and ERs all refused to help me unless I had a CT scan first. After a month of this humiliation, I wound up smuggling Augmentin across the border and felt better within 24 hours.
