Re:Supabase – General Availability Week on Monday April 15, 2024 @12:04PM (#40042359)
supabase, directus and similar are just wrappers on top op postgres. I just spin up local postgres instance for personal project and see no reason to get vendor locked-in myself.

i know the difference i just don't care enough. same thing applies - u would gave to register business and trademark in Russia and pay taxes to have any legs

pretty sure they can't really do anything to him in Russia. Russia and US don't recognize each others patents, same as China.

well, the issue is modern nextcloud vs owncloud is not what it was 5 years aog. nextcloud is still a buggy php app (without swoole) and owncloud is a completely rewritten in golang.
Re:PHP in 2023 on Tuesday January 17, 2023 @06:53AM (#34411446)
These days - I use swoole/openswoole with any PHP project. it brings connection pooling, async, concurrency, event loop, io parallelization and much much more.

Re:Russia Cannot Win The War on Thursday March 03, 2022 @08:16AM (#30540542)
you can probably open in web-telegram and have google translate do its work. there are a lot of unique information you wont find anywhere else. lots of fake news debunked as well.
lack of competition is depressing
Re:PHP in 2022 on Tuesday January 11, 2022 @07:42AM (#29890827)
if you are working on PHP projects - dont forget to look into swoole/openswoole. all major PHP frameworks are adopting it now.

this way you can do async and build websocket servers and such and build http applications with event loop and without apache/nginx and such. etc etc

Re:PHP in 2022 on Tuesday January 11, 2022 @07:39AM (#29890805)
use swoole/openswoole with php - async away.
Re:PHP in 2022 on Tuesday January 11, 2022 @07:39AM (#29890797)
id this why js devs rewrite everything in typescript now?
such ideas are dead on arrival in US. you gotta have a revolution first before being able to override money interests like this.
this is so depressing (for those not mac fanboys). while amd is pushed out me as a consumer is gonna end up suffering.
Re:PHP is worth learning and using on Thursday November 18, 2021 @02:49PM (#29269586)
You need to try swoole/ openswoole - it brings golang style concurrency to php. you dont need to use nginx/apache and it beats node in performance tests.

Why use serverless to begin with? Vendor lock in, at least 5x more expensive, no good development env - what is the appeal?
thanks - I put 0 efforts into almost all my post

give ... me ... a break. are you seriously implying US (aka blue team) are good guys and have some higher standards?

So everyonene OK with saying sunsetting instead of shutting down now?. Even though its clearly a corporate-speak?. Are we gonna be so easily manipulated?

Re:Rendering on the Apple M1 Max Chip on Tuesday October 26, 2021 @10:52AM (#29001141)
Apple managed to book entire TSMC 5nm production or close to all last year - that's the main reason for this performance. and by managed - its passed on consumer ofc.

ill just wait for amd 5nm offering that will also be in ram/cpu upgreadeable form factors and Linux compatible out of the box for half the price.
