Really nice, thanks !!
Re:A 10x Faster TypeScript on Wednesday March 12, 2025 @06:47AM (#43341799)
The main problem is that AOT C# is not as mature on platforms other than Windows, if that.

So, to me, Hejlsberg's choice sounds pretty logical.

After, why go ? why not...

It does the job, so "Who Cares?"
Re:The Story of Rogue on Thursday December 05, 2024 @12:56PM (#42330589)
I really enjoyed the Epyx Atari ST version... Do you know if source code (assets, ...) are available somewhere ?
Wow, really nice !!

And very interesting project too...

Thanks !

Re:C-style: My favorite C programming practices on Monday May 20, 2024 @05:36AM (#40413752)
Very interesting.

Just one (personal) stuff : Stick to 80 columns... Sorry, no ! :)

Re:SQLite 3.44: Interactive release notes on Wednesday November 01, 2023 @05:34AM (#38096210)
Nice... SQLite remains an exceptional piece of software !!
Re:The Thing About PHP on Wednesday October 18, 2023 @08:32AM (#37927690)
Really interesting...

And 100% right about the "over-engineered" part.

The "real" danger for PHP is to end up like Java (not the JVM, Java)

Re:Total Commander on Friday September 01, 2023 @04:19AM (#37348113)
DoubleCmd is amazing to... (and cross platform)
Re:A TLS 1.3 Stack Written in Visual Basic 6 on Wednesday May 10, 2023 @02:37AM (#35884357)
Really nice work which prove, once again, that there is no "bad" langage !!
Re:EndBASIC on Tuesday June 07, 2022 @05:39PM (#31660396)
GFA revival ?
Re:Qt 6.0 on Thursday December 10, 2020 @05:38PM (#25379756)
Yes, and stuff like pyside2 are pretty cool too (for people who don't like C++)
Re:Qt 6.0 on Tuesday December 08, 2020 @05:16PM (#25352167)
Yes, It reminds me when Java has been released for the first time.

The mantra was : "Yes, pretty slow but don't panic, in a couple of months better hardware will fix that" !!

Re:Qt 6.0 on Tuesday December 08, 2020 @01:05PM (#25349069)
Yes it is true, but in terms of CPU, there is an issue too... (Lots of sub-processes by apps, means higher context switching, etc.)

And If I need 32GB and 16-CPU to run 5 or 6 apps...

Asimov was right after all :)

Re:Qt 6.0 on Tuesday December 08, 2020 @12:55PM (#25348896)
Yes, that's what I've done... (and not only it)

It is just to illustrate the fact that Electron, after all, might be a real problem for native app.

Re:Qt 6.0 on Tuesday December 08, 2020 @12:36PM (#25348579)
You're right, Electron app. are ok... If there is only one in RAM !

On my 8 GB computer, I used to run in the same time :

- VsCode (700 MB)

- Teams (600 MB),

- PostMan (350 MB !? WTF)

- WhatsApp (consumes almost 600 MB after 1 hour !)

I had to switch to the web version for the last 3...

In contrast, running 25 torrents with qBitTorrent: ~25 mb.

Re:Java is better than C++ for high speed trading systems on Thursday November 26, 2020 @04:15AM (#25218291)
I agree, because I've seen that in my previous jobs...

Programmers used to say that the GC and its fuc*#=+ STW was a pure mess, but under the hood, they didn't realize (accept ?) in fact the code WAS the mess.

Don't (always) blame the tool !

Re:SQLite 3.33 on Sunday August 16, 2020 @01:09PM (#24179380)
This software is a piece of magic...
Re:Making Advanced GUI Applications with Godot on Tuesday August 04, 2020 @05:28AM (#24048222)
Tauri sounds pretty good, but the look-and-feel of their "app" demo is quite ugly... :(
Very funny :)
Nice proof of concept, really. The challenge is quite interesting... But in the real world, it won't fit at all.
Re:Postgres Explain Visualizer on Tuesday March 03, 2020 @06:47AM (#22473623)
Great job, really...

In the meantime, and even with the help of vue.js, front dev. remains such a mess :(

(But what you did is just pretty cool)

Re:BMW Connected Apps Protocol on Monday January 20, 2020 @03:58AM (#22097463)
Java ?
Re:The Unison language on Friday January 10, 2020 @08:45AM (#22010852)
The language of the month... (Can't wait february)
Re:Qt for Android better than ever before on Thursday October 10, 2019 @01:17PM (#21216989)
It's Qt not QT
Did you talk about that to Linus :):) ?
Re:Renault's driver UX is a disaster waiting to happen on Thursday July 04, 2019 @02:47AM (#20352167)
They should have used Qt :)
