Re:Google changes its search box on Wednesday May 20, 2026 @05:25AM (#48205139)
Probably after the Algorithm adds its own custom tailored preference weighing to the HN submissions and meaningfully summarizes the discussion.

LLM agent is the new browser.

We had internet before we had browsers, then the browser took over as the main method of consuming the internet. It has a lot of problems and e.g. mobile apps are trying to fill the void, but they have their own problems. Next stage is the personal assistant agent, which will be the single entry point to the internet.

If you can just take a pencil and draw a piece of furniture, press a button and get a semi-decent CAD drawing to tweak, that'd be a huge tool for carpenters and such.
Re:Show HN: Wikipedia as a doomscrollable social media feed on Monday February 02, 2026 @06:35AM (#46854823)
I don't get it. It shows the intro paragraph of some articles in card list and that's it? Clicking the card takes you away from the feed, instead of creating e.g. some kind of a path of interest.

Did you short them?
Tell your friend to store only an encrypted version of the message on their server and add the encryption key to the message url as a hash. Decrypt it in the browser for the reader.

Sending unencrypted text over http isn't what I'd choose for my top secret messages.

Do you mean there's a need for https://wefunder.com/ ?

Re:Just before Xmas - Holidize My Logo on Tuesday December 11, 2012 @08:10AM (#4904364)
Needs more automagic and a possibility to give urls (instead of file upload).

At least there's a lot of pretty graphs on their website: http://www.valkee.com/uk/science.html#evidence
Re:This Is Why The American Dream Is Out Of Reach on Wednesday August 04, 2010 @04:22AM (#1573973)
That's an interesting way to see taxation: as a possibility for a group of people to purchase something that otherwise would go unpurchased.

"sharing the value of common resources through taxation and public expenditure" is a related article: http://www.feasta.org/documents/feastareview/robertson.htm

Re:In what language do deaf people think? on Monday July 12, 2010 @03:49AM (#1507143)
Drawbacks? The difference could also be positive. Think of toki pona, an artificial language with only 123 words and their compounds.

When you see a bug, you a bug, whether it's a cockroach or a spider. Thinking becomes clearer and simpler (or so they say).

The difficult trick is learning how to actually take a break from HN && reddit.
Re:Diaspora's Proposed Social Media Model on Tuesday June 01, 2010 @11:10AM (#1395211)
If this is enough details for raising $200,000 there's something seriously wrong with investors.
Travel to Las Vegas and play roulette. Place one million dollars on number 17 and create a memory you'll never forget.
All we now need is a system for harvesting those geniuses. Who knows how many Srinivasa Ramanujans the world has lost.
That's roughly 38 square meters per person. For the most dense city, that's plenty of space.
Re:I hate installers on Tuesday May 18, 2010 @03:14AM (#1356815)
Installing things is the single greatest improvement when switching to a modern Linux distribution. Click, click, done.
Re:The Death of Files on Tuesday May 11, 2010 @10:00AM (#1337818)
What if the manual-save stopped working and didn't tell you?

You made a change - that's it. You don't save your paper after drawing on it with a pencil, do you? Death of filesystem, rise of tags, automatic saving and versioning go all hand-in-hand.

Re:Is Induction Cooking Ready to Go Mainstream? on Wednesday April 07, 2010 @07:22AM (#1246968)
I didn't realise they still make non-induction stoves. I haven't heard that anyone that I know of has bought an old-tech electric cooktop in the past five years. But this is scandinavia, so I guess it's like living in the future.
Re:Ask HN: got any food hacks? on Saturday April 03, 2010 @01:05AM (#1238203)
I'm somewhat surprised no-one has mentioned just plain fruit. Often times I eat nothing but apples, oranges, avocados, kiwis, pineapples and bananas after work. Doesn't get much healthier than that.
Re:Ask HN: got any food hacks? on Saturday April 03, 2010 @01:02AM (#1238197)
Blueberries also help to fight Alzheimer's disease. You gotta start young, if you want to live long and prosper.
Interesting how you imply product's prettiness to be somehow secondary to its functionality. Apple creates pretty products and that's why they are bought - not because they are marketed as pretty. If you've seen any scifi movies you know that the future is slick sweet, just like the iPad. Everyone wants to live in the future.
