Re:Product Managers aren't safe either on Friday October 30, 2026 @05:31PM (#50310419)
None of the articles, that purport to know who is safe and who isn't, should be taken at face value. We literally have no idea how anything is going to shake out, given how fast everything is changing.
Re:Just say no to OpenAI and Anthropic on Monday October 12, 2026 @03:03PM (#50061204)
Really should be ZDR by default.

Since you seem to know, it's one thing to not retain any data long term, but is the data used for training when it goes through the system? Does ZDR at Azure mean that in practice?

It was surprisingly easy. I asked it to use the .NET framework since I already know it. Probably 2 hours total back and forth. And then a bug fix here or there.
This is my entry into the world of vibe coded Wispr Flow clones. Runs locally on the Whisper AI speech recognition model file - the small variety - just under 200mb.

I thought the small model won't be any good, but it's actually great and barely causes the GPU any usage.

Like other people in this thread mentioned, I switched pretty much exclusively to working with voice. Whether it's responding to text or talking to Claude or writing an email.

Yes, the story of Arabs trying to destroy Jews and failing. And then crying about it for all eternity. Great night time reading.
And your entire personality is being a bigot.
It's evidence that your entire personality is hatred of Israel.
And working Israel into every conversation. What is that evidence of?
You've managed to work your favorite conspiracy into this completely unrelated conversation as well! Congrats!
Re:Former German spy chief arrested for attempted treason on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @02:53PM (#49982486)
It's in the 3rd paragraph:

The Spiegel news magazine reported late on Tuesday that investigators were pursuing a possible connection to Azerbaijan.

Re:AI needs $6T in annual revenue to justify data centre boom on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @05:05PM (#49900529)
I run my own custom version of BlueBubbles and a locally run clone of Wispr Flow. In addition, I've vibe-coded lots of nonsense throwaway apps that helped me with a one time boring task.

Wouldn't have been possible.

Re:Jev in 25 Lines of Python on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @12:21PM (#49818433)
I had an issue with accuracy a bit ago. So I repeated a couple of things without understanding why and it solved the problem.

I am glad there is an actual reason.

Re:GPT-6 Astra on OpenRouter on Friday September 04, 2026 @06:55PM (#49571159)
What is the actual utility of using this model on Azure? It's twice as expensive, according to the link.

Do Azure offer something that simply hitting the OpenAI endpoint doesn't provide?

Re:GPT-6 Astra on Thursday September 03, 2026 @07:16PM (#49558453)
I ran into the same problem as you, so I ended up by coding a local app that is very similar to Wispr Flow, but uses the small english Whisper model on my low-end Windows laptop.

It is still a quite fast. In fact, I just typed this in using this app.

Re:Hang on to Your Firefox on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @07:18PM (#49529636)
I use Claude all day long with Firefox - haven't seen your problem. Are you sure the issue isn't somewhere else?
Re:Tether: iMessage, SMS, etc. on Linux on Saturday August 29, 2026 @07:23PM (#49494218)
I am not sure that it is. From what I understand, Tether requires a companion app running on your iPhone. And as such, is subject to being shut down by the OS for various reasons (inactivity, etc...). So sometimes you would have to restart the app.

I use LocalSend and every now and then the connection does not work and I have to restart it on the phone.

Re:Stop Making TUIs on Saturday August 22, 2026 @12:48PM (#49401463)
I had the same feeling. I've since been using Claude Desktop and I have the convenience of the UI with Claude Code built right in. It even supports the same commands.
Re:The Debt That Apple Owes to the CIA on Thursday August 20, 2026 @01:19PM (#49377489)
Yep, same expectation, but it's just click bait. I never learn.
Practically every word you uttered is a lie. It's the opposite of the truth. No one's asking you to read books but at least skim the Wikipedia so you don't make a fool of yourself with every one of your posts.
That’s a nonsense statement. Ukraine got invaded. Similarly to Im Israel being invaded on Oct 7, 2023.

What exactly is your solution to this conflict. Other than making snide comments.

> vaguely suggesting it was the Palestinians that rejected many peace deal

I am not vaguely suggesting it. I am firmly suggesting it. This is not false, it's completely true. 1936 Peel Commission. 1947 UN Partition. Post 1967 countless attempts to do land for peace deals. 1999 Camp David attempts, 2000 Taba. 2008 negotiations between Abbas and Olmert.

If not a 2 state solution, what exactly are you advocating?

Re:Norway Should Buy OpenAI on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @03:48PM (#49351620)
Norway's fund would first have to definitively find out what it takes to actually run all of OpenAI's compute. Monetarily wise. We still don't know that number.

Isn't OpenAI running on investor money right now?

> News media is considered more reliable in Europe over the US

That sounds like nonsense.

From the article:

How did we do this?

This analysis includes findings from a survey of 12,574 U.S. adults, 10,091 of whom are part of the Center’s American Trends Panel (ATP). The remaining 2,483 respondents include oversamples of Jews, Muslims and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints members from SSRS’ Opinion Panel, Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel and NORC’s AmeriSpeak Panel. We conducted the survey May 4-17, 2026, and it has an overall margin of error of plus or minus 1.3 percentage points.

They drew conclusions about Jews from subset of Jews from 2,483 respondents that included an unknown amount of Jews, Muslims, Mormons, and whoever is a member of Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel and NORC’s AmeriSpeak Panel. I am not sure this is especially representative.

Even so, I don't know if I would characterize 54 to 47 as viewing as "abhorrent" as OP said.

> Many non-Israeli Jews view Israel's actions as abhorent, particularly younger Jews.

And this comes of your own polling? As a non-Israeli Jew, I've seen quite the opposite. They closed ranks in the face of an external threat, especially the younger ones. Ignore Hollywood and Hannah Einbinders of the world - that is not the reality.

Apparently just one genocide against the Jews per 100 years simply isn't enough for you.
I am from Eastern Europe and people here "assumed" a lot of things about Jews way before Israel was even a thing. Let's not pretend Eastern Europeans would have loved Jews if it weren't for "Israel".
If only there was a solution on the table that's been there for years and that one side refuses to accept over and over again. And that can put a stop to bombing or dirt or whatever.

Two state solution.

Re:App Store Rejection of the Week: Dark Hours on Friday August 07, 2026 @05:07PM (#49216250)
The other side of your coin is that I need to periodically visit my relatives and remove all sorts of malware and adware from their phones. Just like I've done with PCs over the past few decades.
> nation without a navy can now inexpensively counter a nation with one

I would argue that you are right with Ukraine vs Russia since the former has sunk so many of latter's assets. But that has not been the case with US vs Iran.
