Here there be sharks...
To be a fair program it should not cause an undue burden on the participating stores.

Store A could advertise that it will provide a 10% discount to SNAP recipients. Now Stores B,C,D,etc.. have to match or beat to be competitive. This would ultimately introduce competitiveness into the market where it was meant to assist those less fortunate.

Re:TODOs Aren't for Doing on Tuesday July 22, 2025 @03:24PM (#44651874)
My code contains no NOTEs,TODOs,FIXMEs or Comments, for as Programmer, I have transcended space and time to the final abstraction, and no longer write any code, only long complicated manual procedures, which I then outsource to third parties, who in true programming fashion use AI.

They are basically attempting to social-engineer the sale. Building a meaningful relationship over time to eventually exploit into a purchase.
If its Boeing, I'm not Blowing!
Basically, this is what college should be teaching you - how to research. What good does are useless facts? I don't want to walk around cluttered with a dictionary - I want to know where to look in that dictionary. Obviously in the sciences there are facts that you should know, but even with math, its more about how to derive the formula, than actually memorizing it. I mean, their called "Research Papers" right?

Also, being a coveted occupation ensures that there will always be a pool of people fighting for it. Scarcity drives demand.
I would be curious if their commits could be analyzed for patterns that could then be used to detect commits from their other account

They already have been. Tell me what other industry has as much oversight. The FFA exist with the sole intent of regulating anything to do with air travel. Imagine if the USDA decided that McDonalds had to stop selling Big Mac's because they found 1 that contained listeria, and had to inspect Millions of pounds of meat prior to letting them resume sale. Car recalls exist, but you don't see us stop driving when brakes fail or hackers can hijack your CAN system.
Isn't this PII that can't be scrubbed?
Re:Netflix says password crackdown working on Sunday October 22, 2023 @07:57AM (#37974602)
We don't care that your right, and its working. We didn't love you for your business acumen and superior number crunching skills. No we loved you because you brought us the movies we loved and you tried making it an experience that we couldn't find anywhere else. Now?, now your just another soulless money grabbing company that's lost it's way and sold out to squeeze every dime from its customers. Your just another in a long line of businesses that we reluctantly hand our money over to because you have one movie, one series that we love more than you. Once you lose the rights to that, or maybe you just push a bit to hard, we will move on. You have become the thing you tried to destroy, a parasite, a tick that sucks every last drop out of your customer, until we violently rip you out of our lives. Yeah, glad you were "right" Netflix, enjoy it while it last.

Re:Monster gravitational waves spotted for first time on Thursday June 29, 2023 @03:31PM (#36525576)
Imagine if we could take advantage of the time-space potential/differences between gravitational areas to "skip" large parts of space. We would have to have a very precise gravity map, but could also get huge gravity potential boost!
Every breath you take

Every bond you break

Every step you take

If anyone else is like me, I'm just looking for the next community so that I can ditch reddit. I'm looking for a site that can maintain free speech, limit the bot noise, draw in real users and foster a real community spirit and attitude without selling out to corporatism, over moderation, and overall corrupt tendencies.
Re:Paper Money Diehards Refuse to Fold on Monday May 29, 2023 @07:52PM (#36119525)
Having any access to paying for the necessities of life should NEVER be in the hands of a system that can be corrupted.
You just know at least one person got nailed for it.
Well, because then we can hold someone else responsible instead of having any personal responsibility for our own actions.
Worse than a patent troll. How can we justify allowing these types of predators?
It's unfortunate as a society we don't punctuate our months with something as simple as an extended 4 day break.

Re:Friday Long Read: What to Do About AI on Sunday April 09, 2023 @12:44AM (#35500127)
Pandora's box has already been opened. There is no way any government could prevent what is coming.
It seems inevitable that eventually someone in a different dimension would find a way to start crossing dimensions, and start a recon program to report back on "good" dimensions.
