Re:Ask HN: Who is quitting? (July 2026)
on Monday July 06, 2026 @07:25AM (#48803214)
I am working as a power engineer. Toxic culture at a Singapore government company. Usual bullying for non Chinese workers. Workers and bosses always talk in mandarin even in official settings and meetings.
Currently quitting and plan to chill. :)

Re:Ask HN: If metaverse HN existed, would you hang out here?
on Wednesday December 07, 2022 @11:26AM (#33896274)
Actually maybe, I like the idea of hanging out with people whom may share common ideas for example Reinforcement learning or control theory.

Yes sir / ma’am I agree with your point especially on the pervasiveness of harassments. It’s as if cyber bullying isn’t enough, VR may increase the effects of it.

I personally invest in stock markets.
Re:What do I need to do as a CS Major?
on Sunday June 12, 2022 @10:01PM (#31720180)
Yes, I start looking at job descriptions (Glass Door or Indeed) and the necessary skills required to perform in the skills set. That's a great way to identify what to improve on.

yep, this summarizes what to put in a CV :)
Re:What do I need to do as a CS Major?

IMHO, I say put in GitHub personal projects. Personal projects are an excellent way to demonstrate your understanding to future employers. Last week, I had an employer interview me, she was quite pleased to look at my portfolio on GitHub. That would definitely be a plus point.
Regarding CV, I placed my CCA (co-curricular activities) and current research with my professors. I would also do more courses on edx or coursera. I am picking up ML so as to do more personal projects to understand the field further. This is just my 2 cents. One good personal project you can work on is https://zhengludwig.wordpress.com/projects/self-driving-rc-c.... I myself am working on Autonomous RC car :) Good Luck buddy

I think rust is the way to go, it provides granular control if needed and strong type annotations and the borrow features. however, C is here to stay for an eternity.

Okay fair enough :) but some people on HN blame entire people or religion as if they are the perpetrators. Like it’s affecting my mental health, can’t stop thinking of people blaming my religion for it. I am sad

Ambedkar said similar things to muslims as well, you can stop hating on Hindus. Hinduism does not condone honour killings, it’s a cultural thing. The amount of hate and comments from you is appalling, while everything you say is not wrong but please be civil.

This is such an interesting way of computation. I watched analog way of computing neural networks by veritasium.

Haha that’s true! I am an electrical engineering student, if I have to guess it may be due to random electric charges, probably grounding was not done properly.

Yup definitely on your side, it’s frustrating to see button less interfaces, buttons make many more sense.

Why book though? I always thought courses are better in the sense they are hands on and easily updated. Andrew Ang’s machine learning code is gold standard

Yea, theorems like least square prove that A^T * A * X = A^T * B. but how exactly is this related to calculus though?
