i dont get the point hes making. corporate red tape means no AI how?
take your meds
does that show us that AI meant Machine Learning in 2001?
if you come covered in your excrement, expect people to give you a wide berth
Re:Large-scale online deanonymization with LLMs (using HN posts) on Wednesday February 25, 2026 @12:13PM (#47154386)
so if they put their linkedin account on their HN account, we can figure out who they are.... genius stuff, AI really is changing the landscape all right

its technically an IDE, but harness makes it sound new and fancy.

minimal indeed. why are we regressing back to terminals now? ive seen this in the rust world mainly

how naive. most of the world work to survive, not because its their dream vocation. they probably dont care as much as you do

that whiny bullshit about somebody elses website? you dont have to rely on a website or app. either you need their monopoly because you cant do it yourself, or you have options.... in both cases the whining is not needed

Re:Never Buy A .online Domain on Wednesday February 25, 2026 @11:08AM (#47153434)
sorry but you cant have a domain if google ban it? how does this work?

nobody works anymore so they cant raise income from taxation, city doesnt have the money to do anything.
Re:A simple web we own on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @11:44AM (#47139266)
your tax money from working, but you wont be doing that anymore
he seems to think his times better spent on software than science it seems. i take it he didnt really crack anything of worth on the physics side then?
i agree, but the guy said AI was a synonym for machine translation long before the currently confused meaning appeared
are these examples of AI meaning machine translation? because they all have the word translation next to them. not the same thing
so no money then? what i said
Re:Software 3.1? – AI Functions on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @11:32AM (#47139118)
> you cannot have ambiguity in defining your computation

nobody except for maybe nasa would make software in this scenario.

> This is also perfectly in line with how the word AI was used until circa 2022.

show me a screenshot or link of one website or app using AI to mean machine translation from prior to 2022, AI has re-entered the lexicon covering anything from an algorithm to Sora. if anything its broadened, not narrowed in scope. me and you might mean transformer when we say AI, but the average speaker doesnt make that distinction. they call video sites "social media", so can you really be surprised they dont quite use AI correctly either?

Re:Is particle physics dead, dying, or just hard? on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @10:05AM (#47138067)
no answer to that question lol. they normally say "well the predictions are correct arent they!?"
Re:A simple web we own on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @10:02AM (#47138019)
what question are you answering here?
the historically underfunded NHS took a massive hit to its funding at the start of the credit crunch, and then again in covid. neither cut was restored, whilst patient numbers have steadily risen (UK needs population growth to fuel property prices to avoid recession - 20% of gdp is construction).

people are dying because hospitals cant afford to operate. getting deals on volume purchases is irrelevant

but in general... what?
he seems to be a good software engineer at least, but what about his science? does it all revolve around re-modelling the universe in his software?
> Same for computation....You just don't get the implementation for free.

software packages arent computation... whilst software takes time and effort (and money) to make, the finished product is virtually free to store and distribute. i see it similarly against the spirit of science. how is there more free software in the laymen space?

where we definitely will not be moaning about the same thing in 18 months time
post-work in that sense is as old as civilization. there is no post-work without some kind of dominating your fellow man
