Energy prices weren't even that high. Oil was in the the $50 range per barrel for the year, and the change didn't even go through until 2007. The main reason they did it was to make it so Halloween had longer daylight hours, so they could sell more candy.
Sure.

And what do you use your 88 pound lead acid battery for?

you have an 88 pound backpack? No you don't.
The bike shedders have entered the chat.

There's a difference between nitpicking the topic of the article and nitpicking someone's grammar.

The reason that Linux actually succeeded where BSD didn't is because of the GPL. MIT licensed stuff(if it's any good) just ends up being incorporated into someone else's commercial product, with no contributions.

They can't even take Iran by force.

Where's the furious pushback for the people they've murdered already?

Is he though?

I thought it was pretty well known he's manipulated timelines, selectively edited interviews and staged things.

He puts his world view first and makes the facts fit that view.

With Woz at the helm you probably would have ended up with a completely open hardware computer company.

What would have Jobs been?

Re:Apple Music 404 Not Found on Friday October 23, 2026 @06:06PM (#50216014)
lol. Woz did work on Breakout for Atari (Atari didn't know this). Jobs got most of the money (Woz didn't know this).

It's literally one of the "big prick" items of Job's history, along with disowning his own child.

most people who win the lottery aren't rich forever.

I used flexbox 10 years ago for sure. Grid I think was introduced before flexbox, but didn't get proper browser implementations until around covid.

CSS was always pretty accessible. You just had to actually care to learn it.

Personally I hate what react has done to the web.

I don't see how this stronger ice would operate any different than regular ice.
You're going to have to explain this we well. I've skated perfectly fine at -40, and there was no melting going on.

When there's melting going on at the rink, we're not allowed on the ice.

I spend an enormous amount of time at the rink (18 ice times in the last 9 days). Can you explain this? Because I don't see the difference between the ice for figure skating vs hockey, both of which happen daily at our local rink.
I feel like the obvious answer here for use is at the skating rink.

Genocide seemed to be part and parcel.

Steve wasn't an artist. Did Steve ship a product when Atari asked him to redesign pong into a one player game? No, that was Steve Wozniak. Jobs paid him a cool $350 out of the $5k bonus he got for that. Maybe he was an artist. Con-artist.

No they didn't.

There are tons of specialists in Canada. You're talking out of your ass.

Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:24PM (#50074298)
low version doesn't have a chain.

Medium and high are fixies apparently, (or they have a worm gear, although the hub doesn't look big enough for that), since neither has a derailleur. That would also explain the lack of brakes at least.

Low is still obviously failing the "test". It's pedals are not actually attached to the bike either.

Medium has a handlebar that goes through the pelican's beak. So I'd say also failing.

For the high, the only nitpick would be that the bell isn't quite on the handlebars and the stripes on his scarf don't line up correctly.

I need to have a way to follow up on this. I really really want to know where this goes.
And Bill probably _didn't_ do anything on Epstein Island...

Re:The 15-year search for a band that charted once and vanished on Thursday October 08, 2026 @12:30PM (#50007939)
I think you need to try to find Chuck Warner from Brookline Mass, who was the record label founder (Throbbing Lobster) that put out Cowboys and Indians. Or try to find members of the band.

• Dave Laredo – Vocals, guitar, producer (aka Dave Lichtenstein, worked a bunch with John Cale of Velvet Underground fame) • Steve Cohen – Bass, backing vocals • Julius Klepacz – Drums • Knut Bøhn – Keyboards, backing vocals

This would mean that only sheep and people live on the islands, which is definitely not true.

Also it would be 78% if it were.[0]

Still is pretty pollutant. You just don't see the brake and wheel dust as much as the fumes coming out of the car dusting everything with lead like they used to.

He was terrible at it too, got rid of vents and cooling fans on one of the earlier apple computers for a quieter design. It would overheat constantly.
