My 2014 vehicle stopped updating it's time automatically a few years ago. I think some cellular technology was phased out or perhaps the cellular contract GM had for vehicle connectivity expired.
Either way I just manually set the time twice a year now - I guess I'm thankful it still has that option.
When I was playing around with the radio in my girlfriends vehicle there was no option to set manually on the clock screen. Seems like a pretty shortsighted move to not allow that.
I decided on my OAI subscription when comparing mainly due to reports like those. GPT-Sol has been happily assisting me in reverse engineering efforts without any issues. I very strongly dislike an AI model or company deciding what my morals are for me.
Trump has performed many many pardons, a number specifically for nearly direct exchange of money.
And Biden pardons are irrelevant given he isn’t the president..so he can’t pardon anyone.
Of course you have that freedom. Others also have the freedom to judge or condemn that lack of impulse control and/or laziness.
Most even remotely modern Intel chips can transcode a few 4K streams without breaking a sweat due to the integrated graphics/QuickSync.
I purchased one of those $150 tiny machines on Amazon specifically for the Intel integrated graphics so my Plex server can transcode easily. All media is another one of my servers, shared via NFS.
There is a massive difference between "driving in a way they don't like" and "driving dangerously". The former does not imply the latter.
A long time ago I would collect the magnets before discarding. Then it occurred to me that I've never had any use for them, so they were just more junk in a box.
They're cool, but I don't bother anymore - usually when I need neodymium magnets I need a specific size or shape anyway.
Physically destroy using whatever method you prefer (preferably something fun) and throw away.
What else is there to do?
> Do you actually enjoy the smoke in your mouth, burning your eyes and lungs?
Many years ago when I smoked - yup, sure did. I loved the entire experience, except maybe going outside in the middle of winter.
That does sound like a fun project! Not on an appliance that I rely on working 24/7 though. Maybe an idea to apply to a broken unused one.
Smart appliances just seem like a ticking time bomb.
I want my appliances to last far longer than devices like my phone or computer.
There is absolutely no way these manufacturers will continue updating them even close to as long as I want to own them. So then you're stuck with an insecure and functionally useless, bad looking (in my opinion) appliance. That you paid extra to own and see ads on.
I guess it's a good thing my bank doesn't have a free web hosting service
I don't visit his website. That's the whole point.
It is, yeah. The owners manual for my current vehicle seems to mostly contain walkthroughs about the infotainment and other tech features. The section related to maintenance is tiny in comparison.
You're probably aware of this already but luckily a lot of service manuals can be found online in PDF form.
Somewhat related but I was going through an older relatives belongings not too long ago to help cleanup and found a bunch of old manuals for various household things. The detail included in them was beautiful to see - full wiring diagrams, mechanical diagrams, etc.
Yeah the owners and service manuals are two very very different things. You won't be performing much maintenance with the owners manual besides the absolute basics, like checking your oil.
The cheap OBD2 readers lack the vast majority of data and tools you would want to use for service as well.
There are aftermarket options but most manufacturers want you to subscribe to their service tools - often charged per monthly plus an additional a fee per VIN it touches. These cost in the hundreds to thousands. It can be pretty frustrating as a shadetree mechanic.
I use cable velcro ties. A big roll of them is cheap.
Unfortunately vinegar was unsuccessful for me. I tried that, borax, and baking powder - all on different washes of course without any change. The laundry sanitizer immediately fixed the problem.
That not an option in modern vehicles. You can either have good tech or bad tech - not no tech.
Something that made a night and day difference to all my athletic clothing is adding laundry sanitizer to the wash load.
We noticed our running clothes developing this very strong sickly sweet/sweaty smell and it would not go away. Spent time deep cleaning the washer and dryer to no avail.
We now add Lysol laundry sanitizer (just 1 cap, not the recommended 2) to every wash load and the smell completely went away instantly.
I still don't know why all the clothing suddenly developed that smell - I went my whole life without needing to do anything special to my athletic clothes until then.
I haven't touched Google's AI suite due to this. I need to migrate my email away from Google - the stakes are too high.
Luckily I use a custom domain so accounts won't need to be updated, just emails exported and DNS changed.
Yes - I think in cases where you have a good wireless setup at home it's actually preferable to not hardwire the TV. It's easy to get better performance over wifi when the port is only 100mbps.
As someone who lives local to the Clay construction site - I'm not sure how they could be bringing it up any faster. The site is working pretty much 24/7 and progress is very visible week over week.
Having bought many things off AliExpress over the years I can say with complete confidence that I've never made a purchase on Amazon that was dropshipped from Ali. The shipping times are far different and it would be immediately obvious.
Can you elaborate on the scale difference?
Obviously nobody needs these devices. I enjoy having the stats.
I think it's interesting that the same functionality appeared on iPhone in 2019 as well. Google tells me it was the iPhone 11 and iOS 13.
A $5/month VPS should cut it completely fine unless you're doing something very complicated.
I use mine as a reverse proxy for accessing my home plex via tailscale and a few other small purposes. Noticed they would turn it off at random too. Setup a script to SSH into it every 5 minutes and that stopped it - it's been up for a couple years now.
I don't know if $20 coffee makers are really a scam. I've been using my $20 Mr. Coffee for like 5 years now without an issue, still makes coffee and more than likely will for a long time.
You might debate the quality of the coffee it makes, but I've long since learned I don't have the palate for it to matter.
