Thanks for the clarification.
Is that from lowering educational requirements or from lowering standards?

They’re rooted in a compound fear and ignorance of modern medicine.
You’re saying that like most companies and VCs are not ambiguous soulless organizations. You can’t succeed on good vibes and prayers, there isn’t a god nor souls.

Why should an organization support something they own when most people abandoned a platform and had years to archive and move elsewhere?

Content is a garden, you plant a seed. If the land is barren why would you not move your seeds and seedlings elsewhere?

Ethically it’s wrong and it’s a violation of the trust put into IT workers. It wasn’t a judgement call it was a personal choice.

I’m one of those. I’m on linked in because that’s where I can connect with others in my industry. I don’t care what they do for vacation or their political views but I am interested in their take on issues we’re mutually encountering.

I’m also not looking for work for me but I’m on the lookout for talented folks and former members of my team. If they need a role or if something sounds like them, I can link them up

Yeah not volunteering for that mate.

Hey Anil, I’ve been playing around with Glitch and following the company and think you and team are doing a great job.

Self segregation.
Re:Carbonite To Be Acquired by OpenText for $1.4B on Thursday December 05, 2019 @05:52AM (#21711383)
As a former customer, it’s that the quality of service and the overall understanding of the products disappeared once they became OpenText property.

Never had an issue with the original vendors but OpenText made the decision to not renew easier.

I think a lot of the rip is from Wordpress generally being insecure. You can have it locally and treat it like Jekyll and have your json sent to git and published to something like Netify.

Oh you mean the invading Russian forces.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/08/02/russian-disinformation-...

> By the next morning, soldiers in unmarked uniforms had taken the Crimean parliament and raised the Russian flag. Throughout the day, the little green men—as the irregular Russian soldiers came to be known—fanned out across the city, capturing government buildings. Soon, behind closed doors and under Russian guns, the autonomous region’s parliament voted to request Russian security assistance.

That’s why it’s ill advised to use company email for personal communication. Do it over telegram on your personal devices.

The Russian invasion destroyed the place.

Imagine what they do to their own citizens. Virgil Griffith apparently was ok doing business with a murderous dictator.

“Only 300,000”

You’re minimizing exposing information of enough people to populate most of Cincinnati, Ohio (301k)?

Casting that as “only 300,000” is sickening.

Of course they are.

Their education determines how well they can support future community needs. Public education is a continuous reinvestment in a community.

Knowing what we know now, we know that Facebook saying they “did not know” something is a boldface lie.
Re:Americans are dying young at alarming rates on Tuesday November 26, 2019 @03:17PM (#21642230)
mainly because of drug and substance abuse and suicide. Highlights the need for mental health treatment and perhaps more education around the perils of self medicating.

Add blockers on your calendar for that time.

Checking an employee’s public internal calendar every day, the bastards. /s

Why were they using company resources for personal meetings?

Re:Google Fires Four Workers, Including Staffer Tied to Protest on Tuesday November 26, 2019 @09:09AM (#21638365)
It’s normal in a lot of companies. I typically have my bosses and my team lead’s calendar up throughout the day. Helps to fill in the gaps and get a feel for questions I’ll ask later

A public calendar is public. No different than how my Outlook calendar is setup organizationally. If you want items to be private, mark them as private. Otherwise if someone setup a blanket alert in my calendar, they’ll get alerted for what I want made public.

I still have problems with DDG. I can usually find what I need within 1-2 pages on Google. With DDG sometimes it’s further in.

Does html work? Why not use it instead?
There are other options, not all require college. The world needs tradesmen/women. Some of their pay is on par with my data scientists.

I also have a few on staff who do not have a degree but perform solid work and manage the same tasks as my degreed team members. There are options with college or military.

> Also, what kind of society would we be if the only subjects available to pursue were a select list of STEM programs?

It's a sacrifice. I love art and music and spent many years pursuing both. I'm an old man now and many friends spent years seeking that out and unable to ensure their own survival years later.

Pick a major which ensures your financial survival. Spending 100k on a degree which cannot ensure survival is a hell of a way to learn that lesson.
That's what Gannett does in their numerous local newspapers.
Lovely conspiracy theory.
