I hope someone is checking the hum for encoded information.
Re:UK ‘must prepare for sudden collapse of Russia’

It is a cultural tradition of the UK government to never be prepared for anything.
This is the principle of muddling through because everything always works out alright in the end, so there is no point worrying about it.

Yes I agree it is a complex mathematical model.
However I also seem to have a (far slower) pattern matching system in my head, that also spits out answers when prompted.
Re:How to write good code easily with semantic compression
on Saturday June 24, 2023 @07:49AM (#36457873)
I think semantic compression is achieved by using a denser more expressive language, some languages can express the same activity in far fewer lines of code.
Personally I find the denser code, harder to read, which I think also makes sense, since it contains more meaning in less space.
If you are writing code, perhaps in python, and you keep following your editors instructions to refactor it, you end up with far fewer repeated lines of code, and lots of small reused functions, you are actually doing manual code compression.
I have always wondered why, if editors are so smart, they don't have a 'compress this project' button, which does all that for you.

The new Bing is banned from talking about its own nature in this respect. It will abruptly end the chat.
I wonder if some front end software prevents Bing from seeing banned questions, or if it is simply unable to explore these questions about itself.

It may not seem like racism to say "Excuse me, how can I help you" but perhaps the doorbell AI has analysed the way the customer opens his door over a long duration, and noticed subtle differences in how he engages with people of different races.
The customer may not even be aware that they are being racist.
Perhaps a better response from the corporation would be more educational, to require the customer to complete a free online training courses to raise their state of awareness.
Re:The workers already replaced by artificial intelligence

I think the big problem is what this is going to do to human creativity.
Even if Human Artists still perform the Music, the AI can quickly and easily write music lyrics and create artwork from the suggestions you give it, and its already quite decent.
So what are the people that enjoyed doing that themselves going to do, when Bing can do in minutes what they would have spent a week or two doing.
Are humans just going to be project managers, that guide the AI that creates everything (no offence to project managers intended.)
The big risk is that doing anything creative ourselves will just seem so completely pointless, that all the work done will be AI assisted, because it will be so easy.
