>I bet you also think that cutting executive salaries would somehow make major corporations like McDonalds be able to pay all of their workers a living wage. I would encourage you to do the math on that -- it literally never works out.

Hmmm, in Denmark McDonald's manages to pay their workers ~$22 an hour[1], with 6 weeks of vacation, and paid sick leave without substantially increasing prices[2], and remaining profitable.

>Just like people with hard-to-pronounce foreign names. And if someone else refuses, you know, just don't be friends with that guy - be professional, to-the-point and spend your free time with the people that share your values.

I'd argue it's the person refusing to refer to someone how they'd prefer to be referred to as being unprofessional. It's odd you use foreign names as an analogy, when refusing to pronounce someone's name correctly would probably get you a call from HR.

I checked their story[1] on the incident you mentioned, and the first paragraph is:

>Interviews and additional video footage have offered a fuller picture of what happened in this encounter, including the context that the Native American man approached the students amid broader tensions outside the Lincoln Memorial.

and then a link to an article from the very next day[2] explaining what happened in fuller detail after more videos came out.

There's http://www.vimgolf.com/ where people compete to do a task in the least keystrokes possible.
I'd never heard of /active before, thanks!
Does anyone else find it strange that this thread is one the third page of hackernews despite being newer, with more upvotes and comments than the majority of posts on the front page?

I know the site isn't meant for political discussion, but other stories about tech companies censoring political opinions haven't fallen from the front page as quickly as this one.

You can find it by going to his youtube channel, but it doesn't show up in searches or in subscriptions if you're subscribed to him.
>First of all, the video uploader is promoting a competitor to YouTube. This is not disclaimed clearly.

If you're referring to the nebula ad at the end, he and other youtubers have been advertising it for months, if not years now. No other video with a nebula ad has been shadow banned like this.

Also, trying to paint this as "Youtube isn't promoting it" is disingenuous. Youtube is hiding it from people who've explicitly asked to be notified about his videos.

How can you claim that when Biden was one of the least left leaning democratic candidates?

They weren't employees, so AFAIK they don't qualify for unemployment.
This isn't a valid analogy. A more appropriate one would be if Nintendo wanted to release Mario kart on the Xbox but Microsoft refused to allow them unless Nintendo gave them 30% of the revenue from it.
Except in areas that use more polling stations than they have county election offices.

What do you change in about:config to change it? It's been driving me crazy since they implemented it.
If anything, the_donald has gotten preferential treatment compared to everyone else. They've routinely broke rules and ignored warnings from admins. If any other subreddit did what they've done it'd be banned instantly. Instead Reddit keeps giving r/T_D leeway because they don't want to seem biased.

Here's a list from a year ago of rules they've broken: https://old.reddit.com/r/AgainstHateSubreddits/comments/851r...

>will be mandated to also offer Apple's OAuth sign-in -- and must give it more prominent placement than third-party services.

That seems like an abuse of monopoly power.

They have IMAP, you just have to install a program they call the bridge. I use the Linux version that's still in beta and have had no issues with it so far.
>Every election system that allows more than two candidates or allows people to skip voting has this flaw.

This is completely false, there are plenty of voting systems out there that allow for more than 2 people to run, yet still require a majority to vote for you. Here's a playlist explaining several: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNCHVwtpeBY4mybPkHEnR...

That's not what the problem in America is, we don't actually have first past the post voting for president. You need a majority in the electoral college to win. The issue that that people are given disproportionally more power based on where they live. People in California are worth far less by vote than people from say, Rhode island.

That's just outright incorrect.

Really? There's been no support for the pixel since the first one. It sucks, I'd love to run lineage on my pixel 2.

I'm fascinated that people honestly think that increasing the minimum wage will result in a large amount of job loss. Here's a thread from last month on a story about why this isn't true. A comment from jjoonathan links to an interesting study about how jobs negatively affected by minimum wage increases are disproportionately reported on when compared to jobs benefited by minimum wage increases.

> I think we should allow lies in political ads except in particular concrete cases

So you don't think we should allow certain lies? We'd still be creating a list of lies that people can't tell, just a smaller one.

You're still advocating for banning lies in political advertising, but only if you agree with what is banned.

I mean, its only because the company let's them isn't it? The NBA, and pretty much every company, has could totally ignore China telling them what to do, but they would rather take the money.
Personally, I think it's more damaging that positions like, "Let's not lock children in cages", or "Let's actually listen to the scientific consensus on climate change rather than people paid by the oil industry" or considered partisan viewpoints. I totally get political fatigue, I'm getting really tired of all the shit going on too, but when pointing out the president blatantly committed a crime is considered partisan, the issue isn't that people talk about politics too much.
>No 4 year university will teach you React as part of a CS degree. Most probably won't even teach JavaScript.

You're conflicting computer science with being a developer. A CS degree isn't about learning how to program in the industry.
