Interestingly, I found this one more palatable. Maybe because it avoided some of the other common LLM text pitfalls, like several few-word sentences in a row.
Also I suppose it helps that I was interested in the story of Theo and was happy to keep reading.
Simon you're really going to need to float the numbers for us if you're going to make claims about enormous revenue. And don't forget to include things like cost of revenue as well !
It's a nice thought idea, but I think anyone silly enough to actually attempt this are going to discover the extreme drawbacks very quickly and lose a bunch of money doing so.
... which is probably why they will go through with it. Losing a bunch of money seems to be one of the fundamentals of AI business here :(
What was the decision to leave the LLM to write the detail section rather than author it yourself? There's a growing resentment about asking people to read LLM-produced words, especially if it's a large amount to read. Not sure if you were aware of that or not (I think there's been links to surveys / polls just recently on H.N)
Seems like an odd pivot, have Asus made any other (successful) non-computing products before?
I think Doll over on bsky has an interesting Claude setup going. Some kind of adversarial mode where they pitch Claude against another model (Gemini, I think) combined with their own “memory” model called Chainlink.
They’ve recently started using their AI pipeline to put out rust-based conversions of tools and it seems to be going pretty well.
yeah that’s not what he actually thinks though
Should be banned. Stop finding new ways to burn gas for energy, you fucking maniacs.
Worked great on iPad. Was nice to see something designed well for a swipe oriented experience.
Ed makes a living from writing. Unfortunately he can’t make everything free.
Ed has been beating this drum for a while, I don’t see a problem with it. He’s putting in whatever research he can into these black boxes.
He warned a while ago that a $20/month sub was not going to be sustainable, and now what do we have? $100, $200, and $300 dollar tier plans. And now he’s warning even this isn’t going to be enough.
It might seem like breathless hyperbole to you or me, but I think he’s giving a pretty fair warning in advance to anyone who is hitching their wagon to these services in a big way and might get caught out badly if they aren’t lucky
It reads that if your $200/month sub is actually letting you spend $10k/month worth of compute, a heck of a lot of people are not going to make that jump if Anthropic start actually charging what it’s costing them to not go bankrupt.
I don't know, why don't you go have a look?
What a fucking awful website what the fuck is happening when I tried to scroll?
a video has nothing to do with a brain
Some ui/ux issues aside, this is an incredibly useful feature for both work and personal use.
An example of it being useful for work: I can have several AWS consoles for different environments open, so I can quickly compare configs between environments.
For personal use, I can contain facebook inside its own container so it’s cookies don’t pollute my regular browsing
Dare I ask what this Actix episode is all about?
> Is remote work bad for the economy?
Nope.
Taras, please stop using emoji in your headings.
yeah slow boiled frogs isn’t a thing
I dunno, I really like being able to set out my most-used apps and cycle between them with Win+n - much quicker than alt tab / cmd tab.
But then that’s not obvious unless you’ve read any of the documentation - so that’s another question, how many people actually read up about their OS features ?
