I could acknowledge that a hypothetical smart, woke, furry, trans, porn-addicted programmer that regularly makes great FOSS contributions is intelligent and capable while still disliking their beliefs/behavior.
Separate the "art" from the "artist."
Are you denying that the US was much more homogeneous and White back in 1900? Interesting cope. Not a Great Replacement if White people just never even had the country in the first place huh?
> The country peaked pre-civil rights era? Before the computer industry?
Yes, absolutely, in basically any metric you can name besides GDP. Computers and the internet are not inherently good, multiple generations of social media addicts doesn't mean we've reached utopia.
The civil rights era and Vietnam were just so obviously the beginning of the end for the US's prime.
America was much more White in Ford's era. 87.9% in 1900 and it only became higher until 1950, which not-so-coincidentally is when the country peaked.
It's the state religion of the leading democracies of the world, and our highest societal value. China's "national mission" is to improve itself and progress technologically and dominate the world economy. America's national mission is to replace all White men in positions of power with trans black disabled lesbians.
Which do you think is going to result in more technological innovation?
I don't see art doing well in either system, currently, and it seems like a lower priority. I think art can only flourish and progress in a relatively culturally homogeneous country where people are able to express themselves and push boundaries without fear of having their lives ruined. We may never see this again anywhere in our lifetimes. Well, maybe in Africa.
Freedom is great, but when it results in the place I live gradually turning into a shithole due to political paralysis I grow more inclined to value national competency over freedom.
Would you rather live in the Congo and have the right to strongly criticize the government or live in China and not have that right?
On a federal level, every President that represents a different party than the last immediately undoes the changes made by the last. The only lasting changes from a Presidential term are Supreme Court justices because they're for life.
Democracy < dictatorship if you value technological and infrastructural progress over diversity, equity and inclusion.
So which group is your country being replaced by? Muslims or Chinese?
>ignorant
In fact the only techy people I know that enjoy MacOS seem to be ignorant about what they're missing. I've had multiple people be very surprised when I showed them the clipboard manager built into Windows and explained how insanely slow switching between windows over and over to copy and paste multiple things on MacOS feels without it. They genuinely had no idea because they, again, never leave their Apple bubble.
Like the iPhone the one thing Macbooks objectively have going for them is (overpriced) good hardware.
MacOS needs third party apps to not be incredibly frustrating, and often the apps are subscription based. (Window management, clipboard history, and power management are the big ones - even if you go with a free option like I do, it's not good that the base OS is missing essential features in these areas.) There are many little annoying things that can't be easily disabled, like Apple Music launching every time you connect your bluetooth earbuds. There are incredibly bizarre UX choices, like not having "pin" in Finder be a right click option.
As for development, Windows + Powertoys can do everything MacOS can better, plus game (and game dev). For anything Linux I can use WSL2. I can natively develop any kind of software for literally any non-walled-garden platform on Windows (and use a VM if I'm forced to make an iOS app, god forbid). Why would I intentionally choose to limit what my computer can run and what development I can do?
I'm forced to use a Macbook for work, but would never use it if given the choice. MacOS is for people that value style over substance and non-technical people, just like everything else Apple.
Rabbit's approach is one-sided (train their model to generate needed API calls, and maybe also perform Selenium-style simulated actions?) which should make it more flexible if inherently less reliable than dedicated plugins written by developers from the apps looking to be called via AI
