It's a spinning optical disk.

I'm at a letter agency, and the way we work with hands tied behind our backs reminds me of how we worked in the early 90s. It's still out there, you just have to find it.
Software will eat software. Good luck Oracle, Apple, Microsoft, everyone.

I had forgotten this, whatever happened to Joseph? Probably died detoxing in jail!

Lithium Orotate for anxiety. You're welcome.
Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @05:31PM (#50125043)
All Musk cares about is Mars. The CT is going to be a Mars vehicle, that's why it looks like that by and large.

And this tech is simply part of the Tesla/SpaceX merge, and right in line with flamethrowers, tunnels, and chainsaws. It's going to funnel loads of cash his way, which was the idea.

Re:The 15-year search for a band that charted once and vanished on Thursday October 08, 2026 @11:50AM (#50007327)
Way, way pre-WWW I was at an REM concert when the lyrics were suddenly wrong, "I did not invent this world" snuck in somehow. My friends didn't notice, didn't recall it.

Six years later I'm riding my bike through a bar-heavy area in a large city, and I hear a snippet of that same lyric somewhere, where? I went to every bar there the next six months, until I heard it across the street. Went to the manager, then another one, then another one, until I got the answer. Future 40s, Syd Straw, with Michael Stipe, on Golden Palaminos.

Of course. It was maybe 1991 by now. I told my friends years later, and and nobody had any idea what was talking about.

Re:macOS Golden Gate Is a Buggy Mess on Thursday October 01, 2026 @12:54PM (#49924146)
I'm still running the Public Beta on my Powermac G4. As long as I roll the date back I'm good.
I don't understand this. Buy something else to run Linux, as in anything other than Apple M series laptops. And if you want to do AI stuff, suffer with OSX using too much RAM, or again, buy something appropriate.
Exactly. I'm seeing pullback more and more.
Just go run or go on a walk every day.
OP just casually dropped awesomeness on a Thursday.
Next you can hook up an abandoned nuke silo, right?
We already had this. It was called Theranos.

Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country, and the country now has to serve.

What?

I feel better after sitting in a steam room two or three times a week. That's proof enough for me.
Re:Fixing a 20-year-old bug in Enlightenment E16 on Wednesday April 15, 2026 @11:14AM (#47780285)
Good thread.

I've been going backwards to Afterstep and Window Maker theming. Maybe I'll get back to E in a few years.

Re:Protect Your Shed on Wednesday April 08, 2026 @03:07PM (#47694797)
Yep, beyond 30 minutes or so I'll just switch rooms and watch a hockey or baseball game. I'm at the "done that" phase now. Not much excites me in the computer space.

California pays other states to take its excess solar energy. Power for a project like this isn't the issue, actually building the system is the issue.
Re:I Love FreeBSD on Monday March 16, 2026 @11:29AM (#47400325)
I could never get sleep to work, and got tired of rebooting 17 times a day.
Re:Good software knows when to stop on Thursday March 05, 2026 @12:18PM (#47264363)
And AI.
Re:Good software knows when to stop on Thursday March 05, 2026 @12:04PM (#47264169)
No, all software grows until it gets email. Jamie told me that.
So we don't have to pay taxes this year, right?
Re:Apple Introduces MacBook Neo on Thursday March 05, 2026 @11:06AM (#47263343)
Okay, then, this isn't for you.
Re:/e/OS is a complete "deGoogled", mobile ecosystem on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @12:35PM (#47250945)
I told Claude to make me an operating system for a Pixel 7 that's not based on Android. We'll see.
