That can be done in any cab. Heck a driver would have a much easier time covertly recording you.
Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @09:06PM (#50126804)
I mean, yeah? Would you have put someone in the car?
Seems like an ok solution, but what about doing something like the opposite? Write out the scaffolding and general shape of the code (classes, interfaces, function signatures), and have the LLM fill it in. That seems more important for understanding.

I do actually
Is it your favorite form of government? If not, then why are you speaking in favor of it?
> let them get used to using it every day for 18 months, then pressure the EU to let it continue or you rip the feature away and anger users (who you then point to the EU as the problem)

And you’re saying that consumers would be incorrect in thinking that?

What ecosystem is it endangering? Is using the land a problem? Utah has 10.5 million acres of farmland that I would think has some impact on the ecosystem too, should we stop doing that too?
Why not find out and let us know? You’re implying an answer without knowing what it is
The article doesn’t say when this collection happens but there is some part of the game the involves photographing specific landmarks which does involve pressing a shutter. I’m guessing that’s where this comes from but would be great to hear from a better source.
Not trying to be contrarian here, but I don’t get the problem. What’s wrong with Palantir producing weapons or military intelligence? How is it different from making guns?

Is the problem what those things are used for, or is it the way Palantir does it?

Is there a link to a primary source with more details? I skimmed the video and see some quotes but couldn’t find the policy that they come from
I think comments on pretty much everything skew negative. There’s not much to say if you support the fine.
Yes, but people who lie are also at fault
No? He’s talking about rendered text

A large majority of SF residents support upzoning: https://growsf.org/pulse/growsf-pulse-october-2024/#allowing...
I’m normally skeptical of claims like this, but looking at the examples it seems that Sora is reproducing some of its training data verbatim. I guess it’s a case of overfitting? In particular the Civ example seems like it must have been copied almost verbatim.
Re:Find SF parking cops on Tuesday September 23, 2025 @06:36PM (#45353690)
I agree with the sentiment but I want to point out that a car is not essential for most people living in SF, although many people outside the city think this. Around 35% of households don’t have a car: https://www.sfmta.com/sites/default/files/reports-and-docume...
Re:Restrictions on house sharing by unrelated roommates on Tuesday September 23, 2025 @03:40PM (#45351777)
Why the scare quotes? What else is supposed to be done when every other remedy is either illegal or too expensive!

Honestly I do wonder the same thing.
Re:When the job search becomes impossible on Wednesday September 17, 2025 @05:07PM (#45281409)
Everything you listed is liquid. CDs can be withdrawn early for a small penalty, and most likely without even losing any of your principal.
Re:When the job search becomes impossible on Wednesday September 17, 2025 @05:02PM (#45281370)
Sure, I couldn’t find a better data source than that. If you find a better source that includes liquid assets specifically that would be helpful. I am skeptical that of the 39k in assets listed there, there isn’t a substantial amount that can be used to pay the bills (i.e. who has $39k in their 401k but $0 anywhere else?).
Yes, in 2020 Grindr was forced to sell for similar reasons.

The median American also owns $39,000 in liquid financial assets.

Re:When the job search becomes impossible on Tuesday September 16, 2025 @09:24PM (#45270456)
The median household net worth in the US is $193,000. The rate of home ownership is 65%. I don’t think the median American is at risk of becoming homeless during normal unemployment. Maybe you mean that the article isn’t as relevant for a global audience which is fine, but I would think that the median American lives in “the real world”.

Re:Many Hard LeetCode Problems Are Easy Constraint Problems on Friday September 12, 2025 @01:49PM (#45224676)
There is no greedy solution to the problem. A greedy algorithm would start by taking 3 10-cent coins to make 37 which is wrong.
True, I would be interested to hear to what extent EV subsidies sway people who are already planning to buy a car vs people who would otherwise not buy a car. The former category is almost definitely larger but to what extent?
It looks like the OBBB ended the CAFE standards which have been blamed for the increase in car sizes over time (e.g. https://www.thedrive.com/news/small-cars-are-getting-huge-ar...). Also personally although I would prefer that people purchase EVs rather than ICE cars, I think it’s best not to subsidize cars at all, since it only benefits those who can afford cars, and it’s better to encourage other forms of transit.
Re:Yes in My Bamako Yard on Friday August 01, 2025 @06:02PM (#44762940)
Fair enough
Re:Yes in My Bamako Yard on Friday August 01, 2025 @03:57PM (#44761693)
I mean, I feel like there’s plenty of useful information in the article despite that. Africa is a large continent sure, but there are also useful things to say about the state of housing and urban development in ‘the West’ and most of the world. I don’t think those topics are too broad either.
