There's a larger proportion of older males in the population now than there has been in most of history. Testosterone decreases as we age. The average is across _all_ males, even those outside of reproductive years. I assume if we controlled for outliers, that the results would be fairly comparable across time.

Neat, programmable cells. Why worry about drug delivery methods, when the cells can be programmed to synthesize novel molecules directly.
> Saint Petersburg is a major trade gateway, serving as the financial and industrial centre of Russia ...
> The Great Port of Saint Petersburg has three large cargo terminals, in Petrodvorerts, Kronstadt, and Lomonosov.

Maybe they took a lesson from Iran and are trying more aggressively to hit Russia in the economy.
Heck, if there's military administration in the region, they could carry out targeted assassinations given facial recognition.
Interesting, they mention JUST education as the deciding factor. Would it not be education AND birth control?
Huh, I thought my experience was kind of rare.
I found out my supervisor had about a ~10th grade reading level in English. Needless to say, I wasted a few years on my program before I switched advisors. Finished in less than a month with someone with an appropriate level of reading skill. So disgusted, I left the industry.

Unclear if it's been peer reviewed. The abstract looks fairly convincing. But it is argued against by the majority of research on this topic.
Interesting strategies to consolidate power.
Thus, non-familiar ones would be the ones to outbreak.
Evolution in action.

So, an uptick in issues like this isn't terribly surprising. Once they get fixed, the "burst" of issues should subside.
Predicted for years, perhaps approach 50 since initial climate change predictors were first observed and codified.
Also, the most vulnerable with access to the fewest resources always suffer the worst. Which is why the global South with reap most of the problems due to climate change caused by the North.
The Proleptic Wake:
> You void-stream your own obsolescence porn in a proleptic wake — automation anomie dressed as content, bricks going up with a smile.
Where "proleptic" is a real rhetorical/literary term meaning to anticipate something future as if already present. A wake that is happening before the death; Paraphrasing. And "anomie", Durkheim's term for the breakdown of social norms leaving people unmoored.
I also kind of like Doommaxxing, but I don't think that captures all of it.
Most of AI advances are built on open source. China loves to undermine the west via open sourcing its content, and reaping the rewards of advances that US companies make. This is hardly a stable state of affairs; "Control" seems far fetched.
Good, they almost got one of the big reasons no one has said "quiet out loud" yet: security. Can't have confidence to have kids in an uncertain world.
Also, a kid kind of eats up that second income needed to hedge against uncertainty, so why push for one?
This is also a good summary:
> Years of reporting on the issue have shown me it’s some mixture of more education, which delays fertility, more widespread global uptake of contraception over time, and the fact that it’s more socially acceptable to be childless, so fewer people are pressured into compulsory parenthood.
