Re:What Zig felt like, coming from Rust on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @11:02AM (#49802512)
Absolutely my feeling as well. I'll never understand why more activity and innovation didn't coalesce around object pascal...save for FreePascal and Lazarus which are terrific.
As a programmer and former trader at the CME, I'm not at all sure what to think about this product. It will be very interesting to watch how these contacts are priced and traded.
Re:Delphi 13 Community Edition Is Now Available on Thursday August 13, 2026 @12:43AM (#49281876)
I have no idea why there's all these c and c++ alternatives and wannabes when there's Delphi/object pascal. That's my $0.02!
Very interesting. Two guys with a shared obsession with overpopulation and ways to remedy it. I wonder if Bill got too dark for Warren.

Spock Spock the baby doc

Leads a peace March around the block

Around him, everywhere you look

You see kids he messed up with his book.

I'm a law and order kind of guy, but this nonsense should probably be ignored.
Re:Robert Duvall has died on Monday February 16, 2026 @09:19PM (#47042943)
"Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' d*k body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell? The whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday, this war's gonna end."
Re:Doge Isn't Dead. Here's What Its Operatives Are Doing Now on Tuesday December 02, 2025 @09:47AM (#46121724)
Honest question: Are you referring to those who are stealing or mis-appropriating taxpayer funds or those that are discovering them?
Re:Voyager 1 Is About to Reach One Light-Day from Earth on Wednesday November 26, 2025 @09:24PM (#46064842)
How long would it take to catch up with Voyager using the latest rocket technology and some highly optimized gravity assistance?
The only sticker I've ever put on one of my laptops was an Apple sticker. The laptop was a Dell.
Re:The last-ever penny will be minted today in Philadelphia on Friday November 14, 2025 @09:14AM (#45926850)

Re:Comparing the Latitude of Europe and America on Thursday November 13, 2025 @09:49AM (#45915521)
I've always wondered what type of volume will be needed world-wide in landfills to house all the discarded solar panels.
Re:What does the Turing Test test? on Friday October 24, 2025 @08:58AM (#45694156)
How many tests could the Turing Test test if the Turing Test could test tests?
I hope they included a broad-spectrum antibiotic in the their swag bags. Other than that, that's quite a sight seeing all those folks paddling down the Chicago River...jeez

Happy birthday PHP. With you I've made a very good living. Here's to many more years...

Can the conspirators be deprogrammed too? That would be my priority.

There's a good chance I knew your father if he was active between 89' and 97'. Leased and eventually bought a seat and cleared through RJO.

Mostly S&P 500, Pound Sterling and Live Cattle.

And thanks for those links!

Re:Is Doge Securities Fraud? on Tuesday April 01, 2025 @02:22PM (#43549916)
I don't know how valid the article is, but speaking of securities fraud, I now read that DOGE is interested in the "Sudden Wealth" of so many congresscritters. I'd be interested in that as well.
Re:Why is C the symbol for the speed of light? (2004) on Wednesday March 26, 2025 @11:10AM (#43483087)
It is because light is the only part of the radiation spectrum you c.
Re:The Aging Programmer on Wednesday January 08, 2025 @06:44PM (#42639849)
Your post has great insight. I would just take ever so slight exception to your final paragraph based on two physicians I know that are 8n bad shape medically through no fault of their own. ;-)
Seems rather eerie reading some of the eyewitness reports. I'm reminded of the mystery airship flap of the late 1800's into the early 1900's. See:

I thought this was going to be a post about plumbing and then I read further and was even more excited to say the phrase "python executable". Very interesting. Thanks!
Ha! That's pretty good. Just like Santa was my Christmas list's plan. I always added things I knew were a stretch; always in the thought that Santa might surprise me.
Speaking from personal experience, occam's razor goes straight out the window when one sees one of these things up close.

Anyway, Robert Hastings has written and researched extensively on this very phenomenon.

Re:Chicago Underground Pedway [pdf] on Monday February 12, 2024 @05:03PM (#39351170)
This is another post that makes me so angry about what they did unleashing covid on the world!

I walk through that lobby shown in the first image maybe 3 or more times a week, multiple times a day. None of those great food kiosks shown are there anymore and so many more that are out of camera shot are gone as well.

The Pedway has become a filthy dirty mess in disrepair and reeking of powerful weed, and fresh human feces and urine.

It's definitely a Godsend in the dead of winter and a great place to get exercise walking to and fro after sitting in front of a computer screen all day. But hell, it could be so much better and could server so many more people.

Not to sound like a jerk, but why is NZ concerned about PFAs in cosmetics when they were so forceful about getting their population jabbed with the mRNA injections?
Yeah, but I don't think it has anything to do with the introduction/production of foreign proteins in the body by way of a genetic process delivered by and within a highly toxic lipid nanoparticle.
I've done this, in a way, for years!

My biggest problem in the morning is just getting going. I work better late in the afternoon and into the evening. So often, I've left a final compile or commit undone so I can just "quickly" do it in the morning out of necessity or, at times, sheer anxiety.

When I get this done in the morning, then I'm in the game so to speak.
