Re:Intel stock collapse worsens as $3.5T chip rout spreads on Monday November 02, 2026 @08:31PM (#50346832)
The genesis of this is when Apple moved from Intel to their own chips.
Re:Never Complain, Never Explain on Monday November 02, 2026 @09:08AM (#50336995)
"Why did your ship, the Titanic, sink Captain?"

The ones that do are at a massive disadvantage, like someone writing out machine code by hand vs using a compiler back in the day.
They ask Claude or some other model, this is the correct thing to do though, given it has the whole internet of software engineering history trained into its model and can read thousands of articles docs in seconds.
I think the days of releasing new programming languages is gone, it's like releasing a new punch card format. Humans don't code anymore and so programming language is really a choice LLM's make for you.
Re:Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament on Saturday October 31, 2026 @06:38AM (#50314744)
We need a country to elect an AI government and see how it goes, on the ballot this year are Claude Fable, Grok, Carbon and Astra
Where is the KV Cache in this pic?
Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @01:32PM (#50247625)
Yes because left wing billionaires don't spend money trying to influence politics, only those bad right wing nazis!!!
Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @11:44AM (#50245699)
I agree, I would say $500 billion valuation is fair, they don't have a moat and open models are catching up, they have a limited products with strong competitors, if they have a step change model in the pipeline now would be a good time to release it.
Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @11:34AM (#50245508)
You are missing his Elon political bias. Given every analyst on Wall Street is bullish and there last earnings was a huge beat its safe to say OP is a left wing warrior
Re:Why Washing Machines Took Decades to Catch On on Sunday October 25, 2026 @03:17PM (#50235081)
Or paper clothes you wear them one or twice then throw them in recycle think of the energy savings.
Re:Why Washing Machines Took Decades to Catch On on Sunday October 25, 2026 @12:09PM (#50233106)
We should have put more research into clothes fabric technology so that clothes never get dirty, no washing machines needed.
I just don't like crime, abuse, murders etc. Giving up a little privacy to stop thousands of murders of innocents is a trade-off im willing to make. What is wrong with people who argue 'No let those kids die, I want to be able to pirate movies'
I wouldn't, as long as humans aren't viewing it, think of the murders/abuse prevented, it could even monitor your behaviour and be like a pre-cog so if it thinks you sound weird or creepy it sends a robot round to question/arrest you.
Good, this will get rid of scammers, poorly written apps, and ten a penny vibe coded apps. They should have done it a while ago.
Re:PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35 out on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @10:41AM (#50181850)
Is WordPress still a thing? Why hasn't it been rewritten in Rust by Claude?
Re:GLP-1 may slow biological aging on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @10:24AM (#50181564)
i.e. a Friday night for most HN posters?
Re:PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35 out on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @10:22AM (#50181522)
Does anyone use PHP anymore? I assumed it was abandonware
Re:GLP-1 may slow biological aging on Saturday October 17, 2026 @12:53PM (#50132730)
Easy to pick it up
Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @06:26AM (#50116609)
Potholes no longer an issue, just hop over them.
Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @06:04AM (#50116451)
Yes clear conflict of interest, guy cant take being beaten, resorting to underhand tactics, pretty scummy.
Re:Apple HomeView on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @09:11AM (#50071152)
Siri though, why not allow Claude, openai or Grok as the assistant.
Re:Fable Took My Job on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:44AM (#50058095)
No, not the OP but many engineers didn't give a hoot if their work lead to layoffs for others.
Re:Fable Took My Job on Monday October 12, 2026 @06:41AM (#50054371)
This has happened to many times to other careers over the last decades and there wasn't empathy from SWE's then, in fact all you got was "Software is the future, learn to code etc". Now the shoe is on the other foot people are taking suicide, seems a bit self seeking.
Re:Fable Took My Job on Monday October 12, 2026 @06:35AM (#50054331)
SWE as a job is over, this should have been obvious at start of the year, its is simple as knowing the capability and watching the progress of the models. Sitting waiting for it to happen and crying about it is a bad coping mechanism, accept it and have a plan B/C/D in the works while you are one of the lucky ones where it company has not made the move yet.
Re:In "Musk," Alex Gibney Punctures Elon's Self-Mythology on Sunday October 11, 2026 @08:53AM (#50042816)
Has he? I don't think so, if you have clear evidence you should tell the authorities, he should be in prison if he has committed murder as you claim. However falsely accusing someone of a high crime could result in you being charged so tread carefully.
Re:Nitter: Update Oct 10th seeking funding and legal help on Sunday October 11, 2026 @08:14AM (#50042433)
Jut dont use it, either it's useful or not. X needs revenue to continue to bypassing it illegal and should not be done. Either use X or don't.
Re:In "Musk," Alex Gibney Punctures Elon's Self-Mythology on Saturday October 10, 2026 @07:17AM (#50031771)
Charles Manson!, Ok you need help, see a therapist please, EDS is real.
Re:In "Musk," Alex Gibney Punctures Elon's Self-Mythology on Friday October 09, 2026 @07:05PM (#50027685)
Hit piece, if you analysed anyones life, decision etc you could pick them apart. He's a human like the rest of us with same faults just magnified due to his fame and wealth.
I train my 20T parameter model on mine.
