Re:Ask HN: How to overcome fear of flying? on Tuesday July 31, 2018 @03:57PM (#17656519)
Just do not open your alcohol in front of the flight staff in the USA. There are restrictions on passengers serving alcohol to themselves on flights. Some airlines will serve the alcohol to you that you brought on board, others will give you a less than gentle reminder of the policy.

Re:U.S. Supreme Court to hear civil forfeiture case on Monday June 25, 2018 @06:43PM (#17396460)

You can fix your GPS coordinates on certain phones. See this presentation for more information https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1VttfQFTWE

He talks about being able to fix your GPS coordinates to static values. Also being able to fix your list of cell phone towers so you never end up on someone's femtocell. There's also a really cool cell proxy setup for fully anonymous calling via a proxy cellphone

The point you make is an important distinction. It's really effortless to put down 44oz of soda but very hard to eat the sugar equivalent of ~6lbs of carrots (even if you are juicing them 6lbs is a lot of carrot juice).

I have seen HSMs in a concrete fireproof room, inside another concrete room, inside a regular room, inside a nondescript building. This one required the use of 3 persons (one to authorize entry past the 2 guys with rifles, one to unlock the vault rack with the hsm, another to authenticate to the HSM to perform work).
