They've been confined for weeks under a COVID quarantine. With how long the lockdowns have been going on in China, I'm not surprised people are hitting their breaking point. Once you get to that point, it doesn't take much to break the proverbial camel's back, and messing with people's income is a surefire way to do it.
Regarding the financial status of Foxconn, I'm just firing out guesses here, but with how much Apple has cut back on iPhone production and lowered sales projections, etc., I wouldn't be surprised if they're feeling the pressure.
Whelp, that answered my question! Seems like there's a lot of cost cutting to do across the entire board. I saw an article the other day on here talking about Riker's and it said that 1 inmate costs something like $550,000 annually.
> (except the "life, or worse," I'm firmly against the death penalty but totally fine with letting him sit in a cell in Terre Haute for the rest of his life).
Can I ask why you think this is better? I just did some quick math, and based on the average yearly cost of incarceration for an Adult Male in Indiana at $19,202[1], assuming SBF lives for another 50 years, that's $960,250 of tax payer dollars being used to store someonne that contributes nothing to society. So after he's stolen billions of dollars, we'll spend another million keeping him alive for absolutely no reason whatsoever. It doesn't make sense to me economically or socially. It doesn't even make sense to me as an individual, as I'd much rather just bite the bullet than spend the next few decades looking at concrete walls.

Except that he later goes on to describe how this is also affecting women more and that we should be paying attention to that as well? I don't think anything the author said is actually disparaging of women, in fact there was quite a bit of the opposite, talking about how vital their role in society has been. He's not blaming working moms, he's using them as the perfect example that a person can leave the workforce for years at a time and rejoin without much loss.
Where is he blaming mothers for this situation in the statement you quoted?
>I haven't listened to/read the piece, does he go into how these people survive?
A portion of it is government benefits, but he attributes the majority of it to being taken care of by girlfriends, family members, etc.
Anything Trump did was an unpopular decision. If this starts to move forward under the current administration people would be more receptive to it purely based on the fact that it's the other side now.
I hope so as well. The language in his response from last week is has some strong language that really makes it feel as if it was written alongside legal counsel. With how long he's sat on this issue, I would imagine there has been quite a lot happening behind the scenes in that regard. Issuing that statement publicly feels like the first step towards litigation to me.
> $1B per mile vs. <$20M per mile
Once again, California inflating the national average to insane proportions.
I understand that the issue you're speaking to is farther reaching than just California, but I think we can all agree that it's one of, if not the absolute worst offender.
> Force him to lay you off and give severance.
If you're gonna do this I'd make sure you CYA, considering he's already let people go for cause.
>her main duties now consisted of simply being available between 0900 and 1800, sending the occasional email and completing the odd routine task from home.
This sounds like a perfect opportunity to be paid while searching for a new job. I honestly don't see how employers still see this as a good idea. Please, by all means, stick me at home with nothing to do but collect a paycheck. I'll gladly clock in while filling out applications for a better role.
Almost as if his mental health (or lack thereof) has fundamentally changed his personality.
In this case, I'm not sure that hope is really even worth it. This whole launch has been blatantly artificially inflated to move more of the backstock on the 30 series.
These drugs are sometimes prescribed in cases of extreme medication-resistant Anxiety and Depression. My significant other is prescribed lamotrigine precisely for this reason.
Just throwing it out there. I don't disagree with your perception of the article, but there's always edge cases.
>We're probably conservatively talking $10,000-100,000 USD per household
Considering how many people are struggling to pay the rent and keep the lights on (myself included), this feels impossible.
>It's sad to me that the Dead is more or less 'boomer music' these days.
Hey man, there are still a few of us youngin's out here repping the Dead!
As someone who has just joined the workforce in the past few years, I have never understood LinkedIn. The job hunting seems like a budget version of Indeed or similar. The "social media" aspect is by far the least engaging, most spammy, useless stream of information that's possible. The recruiters on there ruin things even further, adding to the pile of spam that we already deal with. I really don't see the point of LinkedIn past declaring who you work for.
I agree, which is why I've made two decisions to guide the rest of my life:
1. Staying in the Midwest. Every climate change prediction map has the Midwest as one of the last livable places in the States.
2. Not having kids. In my opinion, anyone who brings a child into this world at this stage is selfish and only considering themselves. I personally wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that I forced this existence onto another being. I often wish my parents had the same consideration, but I guess then I'd miss out on watching the chaos.
Can it really get any worse than it already is? On the same note, has Elon actually stated a single concrete change that he would make? I think the reality is that for the vast majority of users, Twitter won't change a bit.
>Search is for finding what you are looking for.
And at that, it performs miserably.
Gotta love when the question proves they didn't read what they're asking about.
> Are we ok with working for free?
No, which is why I decided to pursue a career where I'm paid based on a salary, protected by employee rights (even if limited in the US), and not beholden to a single corporation's platofrm to perform my job.
Most of the youtubers I watch aren't making a living off of it, and the few that do are able to do so because they've monetized outside of the YouTube platform.
Nothing you say will make me feel a single twinge of guilt over using ad blockers.
Because inflation. If we're all rich, no one is rich.
Agreed, everyone needs something just a little different. And at least from my experience, the platforms and systems that build the integration are essentially disparate and held together with I.T. brand duct tape.
This also fails to account for those that demand a specific brand of pill, and will gladly pay more for it. You'd be suprised how large the difference is to an addict when comparing a yellow pill to a white one.
>There are also people that want to make abortion legal all the way up to delivery.
Genuinely curious, because I've never understood this part. What does a "just before delivery" abortion entail? Do they do a C-section and give the baby a lethal injection or what?
>including boot loader, sometimes
Perhaps in the past, but it feels like more and more this is shifting toward the expectation, rather than the exception.
Glad to see some things moving in the right direction. Even a couple years before COVID lockdowns brought even more surveillence to the classroom, I had numerous instances of monitoring taking place during online classes similar to what is discussed here. Scanning a driver's license, panning the room, microphone checks, etc.
I can look my Reddit comment history and know that this is truth.
Ditto on your last comment as well. If not for this conversation, I don't think I would even admit to having a Reddit account around these parts.
It's not true, butit was happening far before role queue. Even before OWL became a thing, people from all the way down in low silver were trying to emulate the top streamers and piggy back on thier methods. GOATS and pro league is when this really took off though. I remember ever other lobby in ranked was people trying to pull off GOATS, but no one had near the skill to coordinate properly, or even the game sense to understand what role they were supposed to fill.
>all about metas now.
How long have you played? Ever since the Flea was introduced, there has been a consistent meta that largley ruins the game. That meta might change through various wipes, but there has always been a preferred way to play.
