Was it pretty fun building with AI?
Re:Roku developer repositories moved from GitHub to GitLab on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:47PM (#50293105)
Nice!

I'm stuck on GitHub at current job, but I do miss our self hosted Gitlab at last job. Also, we could copy the VM around, patch or rollback, with a saved image of "everything that ran the business" and launch it again elsewhere. Like, it fit our DR scenarios, daily custom workflows etc so much better than Githib. I love Gitlab

I know they sell great, and my most measures they are a win, glad they allowed EVs to go mainstream, I love it. It just isn't the car for me, I don't like the driving experience, their features aren't my interests (dont care about screens or self driving and the materials or comfort, for me). I'm not going to get decibel meters, but they are just "loud" and harsh to my feeling. Maybe its the lack of the engine behaviors in a regular car, and the silence of the EV makes the road noise seem more than it really is, I dunno. Other EVs feel quieter, more insulated, but only so much weight you can add to hit a target efficiency, I get it. Just my opinions, man
Re:Two RTX 5090 hosts sharing a KV cache over Ethernet on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:21PM (#50291550)
This is the dumbest article I have ever fucking seen today.
I tried to like Teslas, but I find them incredibly cheap and uncomfortable. The road noise is worse than a 27 year old Subaru, which I found baffling since there's not even an engine, and I thought they were supposed to be aerodynamic and smooth. But no, they're harsh and always feel like you're driving on a noisy worn out road. What's the appeal of Teslas? For the price premium of them, what do you actually get?
I don't think you are a target customer. All the contract fab, manufacturing etc run on NDAs.

The readme.md still says welcome to their GitHub repository :D
I've got some lovely basalt formation in my basement crawlspace. Evidently, the builder in the 1940s said "screw it" to excavating any further. It also causes me grief digging fence posts or even a small hole for a plant.
Re:Microsoft Defender now supports Linux desktops on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @05:07PM (#50095293)
That's the worst news I've heard all day!
The US is attacking civilian ships and infrastructure on the daily as well. What do you propose?
I don't even know what you said but it's better than the article itself
Re:We want you to build the next Git platform on Cloudflare on Saturday October 03, 2026 @05:28PM (#49947971)
Lololol. This is probably the dumbest sounding competition I've ever heard. Git for bots? Uhhhh ok, whatever.

500 million years old, hardly new!
Re:macOS Golden Gate Is a Buggy Mess on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @11:13AM (#49894738)
MacOS has felt like AI slop since before there was AI. I'm a decades long mac user, and there's simply no excuse for how sloppy their releases have become
Just look at Magnasanti for the most efficient sim city
Oregon auto atically registers you to vote when you get a license/ID, and has a pretty reliable mail in voting system. Other states interested in their constituents should do the same
Re:Radicle: Disclosure of Vulnerability in the Network Protocol on Thursday September 24, 2026 @02:31AM (#49826972)
Could be a solo person or a team of 5,000. This is amateur hour, and they are not serious about their purported secure and private platform.
Re:Radicle: Disclosure of Vulnerability in the Network Protocol on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @01:33PM (#49819643)
This whole project reads like amateur hour. Still using curl pipe to shell install and everything. Plus this lax security disclosure with just an outstandingly foolish security flaw. Gross.
This whole article shouldn't even exist, and should just point to wikipedia or mayo clinic.
Re:California's High Speed Rail to Nowhere [video] on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @01:54PM (#49730594)
It's nick shirley, there is quite the agenda.
Serious weather? Ehhh...

Tolerance of intolerance, what a world
Re:When Mothers Get Arrested for Mothering on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @03:30PM (#49615642)
We should allow kids to roam more. But their specific example of a couple letting their 5 year old go to the pond a couple blocks away without supervision is borderline. My spidey senses go off much more when water or pools are involved.
Re:LG TVs caught spying even when offline or on standby on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @01:43PM (#49613793)
This spying is even more prevelant in Korean cars, too. Really sad, because they can be a decent enough product (no worse than any other cheap car) but they are very anti consumer and burning their reputation.
I turned off my ad blocker to check (Firefox mobile) and got zero ads. Hm
Re:OpenAI: Migrating to HTTPX2 on Friday August 28, 2026 @07:47PM (#49485538)
Ugh. certifi the most annoying thing ever. It snuck into numerous python dependencies, never made anything better, and confuses all the junior devs when their venvs/containers etc can't access internal CA signed resources. Probably have explained what to do over 9,000 times. And for what? "To provide updated root CAs". Meh. I don't need daily CA trust store updates. If your CA roots are that new, I want nothing to do with it. Cert issuers (cough sectigo and their amateur hour CA root rotation recently, not even Mozilla had it).
Re:CMS with AI, Not AI CMS: Wagtail 8.0's New API on Thursday August 27, 2026 @03:45PM (#49470203)
Django and Wagtail are among the silent heros of "getting stuff done". Appreciate your releases!
Ohhhh, it was about 25 years ago. They've been doing their weekend show for nearly 50 years apparently :p
I remember when a group of friends went to see Rocky Horror at Clinton Street theater here in Portland, not having any idea what we were getting ourselves into. What a memory. Rest in peace Tim Curry
Re:Building a backyard office, the build and cost breakdown on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @12:24PM (#49436615)
Did similar, but went 12x16, trenched power and cat6, did rockwool insulation, did pine tongue and groove paneling and an Alaskan white cedar porch. When we sold the house, I'm pretty sure the shed is what sealed the deal, people had all sorts of things they wanted it to be, even as a spare bedroom
