Re:If America's So Rich, How'd It Get So Sad? on Saturday April 25, 2026 @04:32PM (#47904344)
America isn't rich, just a few people there are.
Re:I’m joining OpenAI on Monday February 23, 2026 @10:05AM (#47123213)
Julius seems like a inept IT worker, but well-meaning person. Someone who would cheer you up to help.

(gen)AI is not even a person. And you have to pay for it, in some way

I won hehe

Author is like "all things that are not specifically directed to me and who I consider fellows are useless". Also he was Not All Gays vice-president, one of the transphobic orgs. Also, transphobic website.

"They can mobilise vast PR machines around ‘trans genocide’. But when gay men are overdosing week in, week out, across Europe’s capitals? Nothing." You can care about multiple things at the same time. And a lot people want trans people to drop dead.

I totally get being concerned about gay men being consumers and victims of the predatory and cruel drug market. Sharing info about how different drugs hurt you, how to do harm reduction and how these drugs markets is only interested to keep you barely alive to keep you as a client, and offering safe places to deal with symptoms and withdrawal actually help.

But I cannot trust the author. He thinks helping trans people is a disgrace by itself.

Re:A good thing about autism (2003) on Sunday November 02, 2025 @01:02AM (#45787957)
The author quoting "It’s as if someone broke into your home and stole your child’s mind and personality, leaving their bewildered body behind." That IS your child. He just is not what you wanted. Imagine Nat knew his dad thought of him like that...

I know it's hard to navigate life when you are a disabled person's caregiver, our society is very ableist. But imagine how much harder is to the disabled people themselves...

I hope the author is more careful with Nat now (this is from 2003 after all)

Reading this article and considering its theme, it is so sad I didn't learn about Nat. I only know how he gives life lessons indirectly to his family.

Also, you cannot unlock most phone's bootloaders nowadays, so you cannot even try them.
Re:My thoughts on renting versus buying on Sunday September 14, 2025 @11:52PM (#45245933)
I like the stability and peace of not being homeless. I'm glad I have a place to live. I am lucky I don't need to pay rent, or else I'd have to choose between rent or groceries.

When you pay rent you are dependent of a landlord, who has a lot of power over you when you are vulnerable. Being homeless is a cruel situation, and they know it.

Problem is most people can't afford owning a home nowadays. Power imbalances increase even more...

Re:Presence in VR should show tiny people, not user avatars on Sunday September 14, 2025 @05:33PM (#45243424)
Ye, Versatility and variety of avatars is one of VRChat selling points after all.
Add blocked bootloaders, remember when Huawei let you just do it if you wanted?

Most devices are just blocked and won't let you unblock. It is stuck it OS.

You can't even try alternatives.

Those people have a loooooot of money. It can pay good resources and labor.
Re:The Italian towns selling houses for €1 on Wednesday July 16, 2025 @01:50PM (#44585036)
i guess this could somewhat? help homeless people. They can not be accused of loitering if they own that land... Better than getting a fine for sleeping on the street?

Having an address to your name helps a lot to get a job (classism is very harsh and bad, society is very cruel to homeless people)

A lot will refuse to work if you don't connect them :(
