Very good to see all this in one short page!
Re:The Internet Is No Longer a Safe Haven on Sunday November 16, 2025 @12:05PM (#45946576)
i think it has been a hard to host a site since about 2007. i stopped then because it is too much work to keep it safe. even worse now but it has always been extra work since search engines. maybe the OP is just getting older and wants to spend time with his kids and not play with nginx haha.
Re:The Internet Is No Longer a Safe Haven on Sunday November 16, 2025 @11:05AM (#45946078)
sad but hosting static content like his site in a cloud would save him headache. i know i know must "do it yourself" but if that is his path he knows the price. maybe i am wrong and do not understand the problem but it seems like asking for a headache.

such a dumb name unless he wanted it.

I can read 6502 machine code raw hex. Now what. ;-)
Re:How Tube Amplifiers Work on Wednesday November 12, 2025 @08:21PM (#45909263)
very good article! i am surprised how such simple circuit was used in the 5f1!
Re:My fan worked fine, so I gave it WiFi on Tuesday November 11, 2025 @11:54PM (#45896493)
interesting! i tried to order some assembled boards and was told $200+ (US) for only ~20 smd parts.

>> The PCB was ordered from JLCPCB, where I opted to have most of the components pre-soldered.

very expensive, you are committed! :)

you should have gone Full Giertz and added a badd little robot arm that turn the pot.

esp32 are really nice: hundreds of code examples that do what you want without having to read too many pages. did you use ARDUINO IDE or idf.py SDK?

Re:The overengineered Solution to my Pigeon Problem on Sunday November 09, 2025 @04:28PM (#45869352)
i think that was a summary of the article, which you can click on! haha!
Re:The overengineered Solution to my Pigeon Problem on Sunday November 09, 2025 @04:28PM (#45869346)
using opencv for image diffs is common quick hack, but shadows will ruin this (bright sun all of a sudden), not to mention nonpigeons haha! hate to say it but yolo/ssd work good for this:

i tried to deal with sleeplessness by using multiple 5mg melatonin pills per night and it did nothing and made me fell gross. then my doctor said to cut 3 mg pills in half, and 1.5 mg worked far better than over-dosing myself! but he didn't tell me it was bad for me, but only i was taking TOO much of it.
Re:I Am Mark Zuckerberg on Sunday November 09, 2025 @04:16PM (#45869257)
moslem naming is also not very different sometimes. lots of duplicate names like ahmed ahmed and mohammad mohammad. must be very frustrating! (it would be interesting to know how they manage it, since i do not know any of them personally.)
i did not know these existed. very sick indeed.
Re:I Want You to Understand Chicago on Saturday November 08, 2025 @06:09PM (#45860889)
Half the US cheers about this. I hope we do not get a world war to stop it.
users: more dots

btop: done

right? that is not gamification. there's no reward system to make one want progression, or addiction.

that said a enjoy looking at code for projects that are multi os so cheers for op.

Oh I see what you mean. I think of that as "one time setup" that any software needs, and not a bellyache.
Re:Blue Prince (1989) on Thursday November 06, 2025 @09:10PM (#45842848)
5.25 floppies also taste better.
Matter is nice because of its mesh and low power wakeup. but esh networks are hard to get right. Matter is better than BLE mesh but still not perfect. If you like to build yourself better to use MQTT (deal with a little latency when you turn on your light) on esp32 (nice and low power modes) and Wi-Fi repeaters around the house.
>> because what I have to do to it to keep it as usable

I find this confusing. Why is Firefox so much effort? Install it + badger + adnauseum. Done. Why so hard for you? I am not a power user, is that why I don't see the effort?

Re:Blue Prince (1989) on Wednesday November 05, 2025 @11:43AM (#45824981)
Yes. Lots of software was double sided. With a small hand punch would could make non-double sided disks double sided (even if manufacturer said no no).

I would repost what I said again but you do not listen.
"To them, it’s way too convenient to be on AWS: not only it solves their problem, but it’s also a shiny object. It’s technically complex, it makes them look smart in front of other devs, "

why? why be so obnoxious to other people who you claim are being obnoxious to you. no need to read your blog post now/

Re:Things you can do with diodes on Monday November 03, 2025 @09:09PM (#45806770)
forgot adc converter! series diodes tapped at each connection.
one set of political extremes has 3x the budget of the us marines and is a paramilitary that operates above the law. the other political extreme are some skinny vegan teenagers in black clothes. no no both sides.
You are oversimplifying. There are degrees of corruption. Just like there are degrees of crime: running a traffic light isn't the same as shooting someone. This is not to dismiss corruption or breaking laws, but oversimplifying is a tactic used by authoritarians to create confusion in people who don't want to think too hard abit things. Marcos and Aquino, Amin, Putin... Trump is more like Marcos, not massive slaughter but oligarchs aren't even pretending to hide in the shadows. I'm sure US's good guy Jimmy Carter had some corruption but is no where mear Marcos.
Re:The foods that make you smell more attractive on Monday November 03, 2025 @12:46AM (#45796196)
Oh boy i did not say that the right way.
Re:The foods that make you smell more attractive on Sunday November 02, 2025 @06:19PM (#45794295)
no mention of curry? the Jain guy that works with me smells so good of curry every day that i breathe deep whenever i talk next to him. it is quite pleasant. very much the opposite of stereotypical insults about men from india.
