Re:Anger as man sentenced to death for Facebook comment on Friday October 09, 2026 @02:13PM (#50024541)
what a shame. i wonder what religion still has laws that issue the death penalty if you insult the religion or a prominent member of the religion
source?
Re:Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries on Wednesday April 09, 2025 @03:37PM (#43636766)
This is a money grab. Someone or a bunch made a lot of money

I’m glad his life is returning back to normalcy

Re:Will Boiling Water Ruin Green Tea? on Saturday April 22, 2023 @02:34AM (#35663959)
Have you considered writing a blog or posting your thoughts about your experience and journey in finding the “perfect” tea brew? I’m sure your thoughts would save many amateurs a lot of frustrations. I, myself, am intrigued how nuanced the process is
Re:Finland becomes the 31st member of NATO on Tuesday April 04, 2023 @03:30PM (#35444776)
So far it is. All empty threats
Re:I Use Cheap Notebooks on Friday March 10, 2023 @12:17PM (#35097531)
I used to like writing on compositional notebooks under a professional setting. Now as an avid fountain user, I don’t mind paying a little extra $$ for better paper. Better paper won’t snag the nib of a fountain pen and facilitates quicker drying of the ink
Re:How to Beat Russia [pdf] on Wednesday March 08, 2023 @06:21PM (#35076152)
Russia will most likely mobilize and throw about 500k of soldiers at the war. This has been done before by Russia in previous wars. We will probably see the fruits of support and resources by the end of this summer. I’m hoping.. praying that the Ukrainians are able to fight off this zombie invasion
Re:Blowing Holes in Seymour Hersh's Pipe Dream on Saturday February 11, 2023 @02:30PM (#34755465)
I would also add. If you claim to be respectable journalist or an objective observer, I, as a reader would expect you to have done your research and have a higher standard of your publications. Given your past accolades, presenting anything less without substantial support just tells me you are just trying to make yourself relevant with contrarian views
Re:Twitter starts limiting how many Tweets you can post per Day on Wednesday February 08, 2023 @10:09PM (#34719290)
I was just replying to someone’s tweet and it kept failing. Not sure what is going on
Well you lost one customer
This. I had so much hatred for GWT, even as a backend developer. I remember how painful debugging was
Re:FDA to order Juul e-cigarettes off U.S. market on Wednesday June 22, 2022 @11:35AM (#31837414)
I agree with you. Saying it’s “slightly less terrible” is disingenuous. Sure, not smoking at all is the best thing but some can’t do that on the whim
He’s the guy that convinced me
Absolutely. The signals were there but most of us choose to ignore it. For those who still put out podcasts who still claim that supporting Ukraine is supporting nazis, I get that you’re thinking of preventing a nuclear war but you’re not seeing the big picture. You’re completely full of BS and if you’re thinking that you’re doing journalism, you should go back to school
Re:Ask HN: What's on your learning list? on Saturday April 30, 2022 @12:37PM (#31217222)
This is not tech related but geopolitics.

A few years ago, YouTube introduced me to a man, Peter Zeihan. He focuses on geopolitics and the future of nations. I thought his presentations were informative yet I was skeptical. Always kept him and his predictions in the back of my mind.

Fast forward to now, covid and the Ukraine-Russia war. Now I can’t get enough of his words and thoughts

On my reading list, is his books.

- The Absent Superpower: The Shale Revolution and a World Without America

- Disunited Nations: The Scramble for Power in an Ungoverned World

So far, his predictions have been accurate. And that scares me about the next few years

Re:Pet Airways on Thursday April 28, 2022 @07:03PM (#31199319)
I wish for an airline like this. I would pay extra for the extra seat. Maybe tag the flight as pet-friendly to allow passengers the ability to decide not to take a certain flight due to allergies. I regard my pet as a family member
For the quote you mentioned, i agree with you for the most part. However when it comes to cooking with a wok, another factor may come into play, which would give exception to the quoted “rule”. Some Chinese cuisine require something called “wok hei”, which is essentially cooking under intense heat, something that an induction cooktop could not achieve

Re:Joni Mitchell joins Neil Young in protest against Spotify on Sunday January 30, 2022 @02:28AM (#30134847)
He has Sanjay Gupta on, a well known doctor that supports vaccination. Even Gupta couldn’t make a firm argument that everyone must get vaxxed, even with the fact checking in real time
Sanjay Gupta was on for 2+ hours. I’m sure you’d agree that’s an opposing view. Even Gupta couldn’t put up a sound argument. So what’s your point?
You can hire contractors for that
I’m ok with this. More transparency
Re:How my ivermectin research led to Twitter death threats on Friday October 15, 2021 @01:17PM (#28880252)
Why is this post flagged?
Agreed. I have a friend who is a dr who already says a “hard no” on ivermectin even after I’ve stated that I’m ok being wrong about the issue and I want further investigation. I just don’t want this drug to be politicized but here we are. Full stop, you can’t talk about the drug, etc. I’m just trying to keep an open mind here
When you mentioned Alan Watts and his quote, I thought I'd share a small animated clip that presented that quote well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGoTmNU_5A0
Re:Show HN: Quiver – The Programmer's Notebook on Tuesday December 02, 2014 @03:52PM (#8689808)
Any thoughts on making this cross-platform (Win7, linux)? I currently use tiddlywiki to keep a journal of all my notes but it's not as seamless to use. At work, I use Windows7 but at home, I use Mac OSX. I have it synced via Dropbox which allows me to jot down notes almost anytime I'm using a computer.
