Yeah. The article is not misleading. The title is, but you know, headlines are all lies that's why you read the article.

We can use single English words in their normal sense now without being told it's Claude?
Shipping to Canada expected?
Yes, UBI is and has always been an alternative welfare implementation.

USA has no welfare system to speak of so it would be a massive change there. In places like Canada it's mostly an efficiency and fairness gain.

No because you tax it back. Or only give it out if it wouldn't be taxed back (aka negative income tax)

Will you not own your home for more than 20yr?
Re:Digital Minimalism on Saturday October 31, 2026 @10:27AM (#50316522)
Sure but that's rather different from productive collaboration. People have previously replaced those things with Netflix or video games which also cannot replace human collaboration
Re:Digital Minimalism on Saturday October 31, 2026 @08:01AM (#50315304)
I don't think LLMs can replace human collaboration. More like replace documentation and editor drudgery
TFA mentions this product in the first paragraph and how much the product sucks as the whole motivation for the project.

Thousands or more people already have copies and the license explicitly is irrevocable and allows redistribution. So if they take it off HF and HF is ok with that, people will just upload to anywhere else.

"outpaced by SOTA" doesn't matter at all, the models we have are plenty good enough for most real tasks.

Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @11:47PM (#50299655)
This doesn't seem like an actual court decision? Also it specifically says "if you use AI as a tool... then you probably own it" which, how else can you use AI? It doesn't do anything without a human wielding it, which has been the basis for all copyright claims so far.
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @05:23PM (#50296242)
Open doesn't just mean accessible and never has

Qwen smaller sizes are right?
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @05:20PM (#50296180)
DeepSeek 4.1 flash

Um. Yes. That is explicitly what open source means.

Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @05:16PM (#50296139)
I've not heard anything about model outputs. Do you have an actual case to cite?
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @05:13PM (#50296092)
Only one way to find out!
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @05:12PM (#50296074)
There's not even any point in that IMO. A model doesn't "know" things anyway everything useful it's going to get from tool calls and context.
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @05:11PM (#50296056)
We already have all the open weight models though. They can't retroactively close them.
Re:We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4 on Thursday October 29, 2026 @05:04PM (#50295958)
Sure but people used "open weight" for weights that were open, because "open source" doesn't make much sense for something that has no source.

Now we have these "open inspired but not open" licensed weights and they want to keep the term.

I'll stick with DS4.1 flash. Open and capable

Only been hoping to abolish it for my entire adult life.
Re:AI promised less work. I've never worked more on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @08:00AM (#50272216)
Yes this is true of some of course. But if it were true of all nothing would happen
Re:AI promised less work. I've never worked more on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @06:07PM (#50266526)
Break even is staying is business :)

And you do it to provide the product/service, provide for your workers, etc

Re:AI promised less work. I've never worked more on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @10:40AM (#50260124)
And yet even while you indolently phone it in, if you're any good they make a lot more off you than they pay you.

By law or by collective bargaining
Re:Why Washing Machines Took Decades to Catch On on Sunday October 25, 2026 @12:52PM (#50233555)
Given that that's all anyone talks about for at least several decades I don't think it's "nobody"
Re:Why Washing Machines Took Decades to Catch On on Sunday October 25, 2026 @12:02PM (#50233018)
I imagine there was also the ethical concern of putting all those people out of work...
Had two seats literally one election ago and are looking likely to get that second one back.

I know two seats is not "a force" but saying they'll never have another than one seems silly in this context.

We don't need new versions of http or SMTP because they're already simple and great and they're dumb protocols so there's not much you could ever add

If you want something else you can take your pick based on need from dozens of other options

Except for my entire 20s the conservatives were in power, so...
