Re:PipePipe: NewPipe hard fork implementing SponsorBlock on Saturday September 26, 2026 @03:09PM (#49859557)
I think part of the reason why NewPipe is so slow is that they are in the middle of a rewrite/redesign. All the focus is there and the current app is in the maintainance mode.

Shameless plug. I also implemented SponsorBlock functionality into the NewPipe. My fork is focused on as minimal changes to the original as possible, so it is easy to be up to date with new releases. The implementation is as minimalistic as possible, so no seekbar highlights and no option to submit new segments, just skipping segments that were selected in settings. You can turn it off for a video tho. I am using it myself heavily, so I am motivated to maintain it. https://github.com/simur407/NewPipe-SponsorBlock
Yeah, about the medical information. Recently in Poland there was a hack on the medical system called MyDr that is used by commercial medical facilities. Estimated 21M people could've been affected. So it is already happening and the scariest thing is, we don't have control on where our data is stored on. Even the EU GDPR didn't make it easy to control what data lands where.

A bit off topic, but there is a game on Steam based on the story, also called "The Invincible" [1]

I was one of the people that used the free Pro tier for a year and it is still my go to app when I want to quickly check something and have some sources linked, but I agree that over that year the quality of linked sources dropped significantly. But at least I got noticed when my trial period was near the end, so they either learned, or I was lucky.
Re:Pac-Man, but you're the ghost on Sunday June 14, 2026 @06:20PM (#48533480)
This reminded me of a high school thing we had with my colleagues. There was Java game called Pac-Man that had multiplayer built-in that was based on a Bluetooth connection. One of the players was Pac-Man and up to 4 players were ghosts. What a great game. We played it non stop for the whole semester. Even during boring classes.
