for me, its texture.

I hate the goop and love the flesh of raw tomato.

I cannot stand cooked large chunks of tomato.

>Funny how these things tend to work out in Corporate America.

They are like that everywhere.

People who are willing to screw over other people without remorse go far in our world.

>I work at an IoT company and we take security far more seriously than some would say is necessary or even reasonable.

Then you are a member of a miniscule minority.

The backing argument is a ballooning threat surface that can never reliably be patched

whats really needed is an actual un-fucked-with consumer grade encryption standard that is headless, touchless and on forever with no offswitch.

Alas, that wont happen either

"We seem to have somehow miscalculated our trajectories and the vehicle is now permanently locked in low lunar orbit forever with no recourse. Sorry for the inconvenience."
IoT should die a swift and permanent death.

Alas, that wont happen.

Starcraft in particular always felt like work to me; the insane level of management required to simultaneously macro/micro...

I never enjoyed it.

Currently enjoying the apocalyptic wasteland / occasionally broken mess that is H1Z1: King of the Kill

Man, welcome to the future.

Well, mostly unless said author has a persistent social media profile, you manually do it

The frightening context that the White House belongs to Putin? I find that pretty frightening, personally.
This is as good a time as any to stop using social media.
That may be changing.
Re:Inside Magic Leap on Monday November 07, 2016 @06:26PM (#12896221)
I hope they can deliver what they are promising.

I remain highly skeptical.

The process isn't rocket science but the scale is.
Re:Inside Magic Leap on Monday November 07, 2016 @12:36PM (#12892955)
There's just no way.

They aren't going to beat Oculus/FB, or Sony, or HTC.

They don't have a product; they clearly must have some incredible tech demos, and a wizard working VC

D-Prime is an incredibly good AI MC name

Whoever thought that one up deserves free lunch in perpetuity

Re:Inside Magic Leap on Monday November 07, 2016 @12:12PM (#12892704)
"We're going to make augmented reality everything! Repair manuals, etc"

Bullshit. You're going to model and diagram every part and repair guide from every production model vehicle ever?

Magic Leap would need a software development industry unto itself to build the solutions being batted lightly about in the OP like pingpong balls

That switch can already be seen in the discourse
Lol, the Marshall Plan.
I'm, by any reasonable measure, a wealthy man.

Rand was a mundane, myopic, self righteous ideologue with the philosophical depth f a puddle and the macroeconomic wisdom of a 6 year old with a 20 dollar bill.

Randian politics are a comic strip masquerading as a political movement.

Worthless except as a study in sociology of those people who hold it up as a worldview.
