He’s living in an industry where the customer have zero protections
Isn’t scanning for vulnerabilities illegal? Traditionally security researchers had to be very careful about such things

I’ve noticed so many bugs in spotify after they tweeted about how little coding their devs do now

I never said this did I.

Also you’re talking about smokers moving to vaping, whereas at the moment plenty of people are going straight to vaping due to people over arguing how harmless it is compared to smoking.

Re:People Hooked on Vapes Try a New Way to Quit: Cigarettes on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @11:23AM (#49817526)
Vaping definitely isnt healthy for you.

It's not really the nicotine that causes the obvious damage though. Studies have shown that the vape smoke stimulates the vagus nerve which causes changes in the cardiovascular system that could likely cause heart disease

On top of that it’s obvious that what goes into the lungs generally stays in the lungs, and vapes are full of all sorts of weird flavours and e numbers

But the truth is even if you were vaping water all day it would likely still damage your cardiovascular system

Unguarded LLMs create knowledge just like that, im not sure why you would consider it nonsense.

There's a reason people hated Grok for sexualising children

Books with dangerous knowledge are banned.

See, the various banned porn varieties for an easy example

But of course, the moment they invade Taiwan, the definition of cutting edge will change as Taiwans production goes offline.

Anvil empires might end up being what you want
Why is that worrisome? Might give the fish a chance whose bellies are filling up with plastic rubbish
In the same way a step counter encourages people to walk more, a glucose monitor on your watch could discourage you from eating that extra donut
Hopefully by the time i’m there euthanasia will be legal
I guess you can start spending your retirement money faster
Try and read a book that’s been burnt and find out
The plagiarism machine is so good at this
I guess you’re unaware that brands like Shein effectively use slave labour then?

I guess there’s a reason Musk likened AI to summoning the demon in horror films.

It’s powerful but who knows what you’ll get

In my experience the worst dressed definitely have more self confidence about their ability, rightly or wrongly
Nah I see this as a bald dude. When I wear a cap people smile at me, make conversation, etc

Not when I’m clearly bald though

People treat you better when you look better it’s sad but true

There’s a reason the solidarity movement arose in Poland

Remarkable culture

You don’t think it has anything to do with hostile states using fake profiles on social media to drum up discontent in the democratic world?
Re:Agentic Code Quality on Saturday August 08, 2026 @01:21PM (#49223785)

For the vast majority of human history we didn’t even have written language, let alone code reviews

Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean it’s bullshit.

Global economy could face 50% loss in GDP between 2070 and 2090 from climate shocks, say actuaries

German scientists warn global warming is accelerating faster than expected, raising the risk of a 3 °C rise by 2050 https://worldcrunch.com/focus/green-or-gone/global-warming-a...

Alternatively, think of an alcoholic telling his doctor ‘you told me to stop drinking 5 years ago but i’m still fine’

It’s a slow train, but the damage is cumulative and it will get us eventually.

An emotional reaction is rational.

So just crack on with a +3 degree rise.

So much for human ingenuity, when being able to buy plastic shit on amazon is prized over having a temperate world.

We wouldn’t want anything to threaten the line going up.

You can also respond ‘I don’t know’ instead of doing the equivalent of responding with the first page of an ‘I feel lucky’ google search
It’s not really though. Plenty of classical civilisations saw wealth chasing and work something to be looked down on

That’s not hard sci-fi though. Something like Stephen Baxter’s work is hard sci-fi, the ansible was just a plot device
