Re:Paper straws worse for the environment than plastic ones on Monday November 02, 2026 @11:33PM (#50348111)
If the paper is contaminated, then paper cups used for coffee will also have it. To single out the straw is political hacking.
I am not very wise but here is my rant. Are you yourself buying all the products that are 10x better than something that you are using already?. It takes time and effort and money to update the stuff. Comparing is difficult and hard to justify unless one is looking for a replacement.

So you have to focus on unhappy people who are looking to replace that functionality. Marketing it to general public may not work.

Its not a good idea. Technicians can't fix the problems and there is heat issues that are hard to solve in space.
LOL.. It is that under the cover.
I think use of Ai can improve the brain ability to learn. Once you hit a wall, you can slowly break through it by iterative methods of asking and testing yourself to see if you can understand something. The main thing is to not give up if that is really what you want.

Not that it may matter to anyone other than yourself. We are hitting a timeline when acquiring knowledge may not be valuable as it use to be.

LOL.. good one there.

I addressed all your points. Again as I said you want the profits from the wars and not refugees and you know full well that is true.. Also you proved that you are not worthy of debate

.. all rants and no substance.

Re:How to Conquer a Nation Without Fighting [video] on Sunday November 01, 2026 @06:16PM (#50330902)
You are making it up. The west didn't invent civilization as you believe. The fact is that the west has profited from the wars. They are not as peace loving as you claim. You don't want the refugees but want the profits..

You are his defense attorney I see.. That is why you posted it. It is how you feel. Did you expect to see an agreement with propaganda and not getting contested?

Are you looking for references that prove that most of the refugees are product of wars where the west has been spreading for about 50 years and collapsing many countries turning them into dust? Or would you ignore the evidence no matter what references are provided, believing that you are the victim. Frankly I don't believe anybody can miss the vast amount of evidence.

For your information people escape to the centers of empire to get away from violence and being bombed. Be it Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, .. name it .. the perma wars that never ended. Not to forget wars against socialism and overthrows and goon squads that converted many countries into land of warlords by constant overthrows.

It is very simple, no wars, no war refugees.. They may smell bad and become vile because civil behavior can not be expected in war torn regions. But those that start these wars and pump them are far worse. They smell good and produce vile videos.

Re:Are We All Too Cynical for Star Trek? on Sunday November 01, 2026 @04:31PM (#50330122)
Star trek assumes a federation that is best ruled by American centric values. It is all about individualism and pseudo patriotism and intervening in other planet nations to supposedly do good.

Star trek's Ferengies are the ultra religious capitalists more like what we seeing now in usa. Payment and fees for everything; they protect the markets over people.

He forgot the main plot or pretended not to know. Bomb them and they will come.
Re:Feminine and Masculine on Sunday November 01, 2026 @08:19AM (#50325397)
Even the French language teachers hate this masculine/feminine stuff.. There is actually a move to to either use li or lo for inanimate objects to get rid of this nonsense. For humans also, there is very little need to use gender. Who knows who went crazy in ancient times to come up with this stuff. Many languages are gender free and they do fine without it.
Re:Computer Science Programs Lose Students as AI Replaces Jobs on Saturday October 31, 2026 @08:00PM (#50321465)
There is a lot more data than one individual can process. Is there something that humans can know and it wouldn't, I pretty much doubt it. But can it do experiments that are biological? Yes it can order it I think; it probably knows where its knowledge is ambiguous.
Re:Computer Science Programs Lose Students as AI Replaces Jobs on Saturday October 31, 2026 @07:54PM (#50321432)
I think Ai understands biology better than humans because it can correlate everything where humans can never know enough to correlate all. But Ai will not just focus on a solution till it is given a runway to solve and deliver.
They probably have reverse engineered the stuff for themselves and now closing the door behind them. That type of thing is quite common. For example MSFT copied some other operating system itself but theirs was holy. OpenAi used google's open source ai tools before openAi.

Fable of The Scorpion and the Frog should always apply .

Re:Computer Science Programs Lose Students as AI Replaces Jobs on Saturday October 31, 2026 @07:22PM (#50321230)
The same will happen in biotech, pharma and many fields where data is easier to process with ai. Its already in progress. The only fields immune are where the cost of robotics exceeds the cost of humans. Say aircraft maintenance, ,mechanics, etc.. fields where robotics are still way more expensive
It will change the course of Parkinson disease forever.
One common visible sign specially with phones is that the battery will bulk up.

Modern charging protocols within devices timeout but a fail safe easy solution to prevent fires is to have a timer before the charger and set it to amount of time that the charger takes to charge the device .. typically 30 min for a phone with a good chargers. With ebikes, read the manual; 2-4 hours typically. The shutoff timers are typically less than $10.

Re:Elon Musk Made Off with $16B of Taxpayer Money on Friday October 30, 2026 @11:28PM (#50312952)
which one? Claiming that others took more is hilarious.. Amazon?! Oh yes that was subsidized in trillions.. multiple channels of subsidy.. No kidding!.. It is a race about can take more.. self made takers ..LOL!
That the max they can do with the old uv machines I suspect . However I wonder if their 2D gpus will arrive earlier than the west. I wonder if its game over then. Its getting there.
Re:Elon Musk Made Off with $16B of Taxpayer Money on Friday October 30, 2026 @05:59PM (#50310701)
What misrepresentation! None of his companies would have survived without a massive subsidy.. The reason that people are focusing on it now, is the fact he is branding others as takers.
Re:Alberta-made low-tech tractor getting attention worldwide on Friday October 30, 2026 @12:57PM (#50306717)
Well Kubora is Japanese and not local to that region. My search shows that the given tractor company is using a well known engine with no digital components as well as common components with max availability. There is a market for it in Alberta.
Re:Alberta-made low-tech tractor getting attention worldwide on Friday October 30, 2026 @12:01PM (#50305836)
Way to go. No perma rent to pay for inflated priced parts and labor after paying for the tractor.
LOL.. people can not even escape to the forest away from bots and drones. I wonder what movies are going to do with that?
They probably are needy of some sort of government subsidy or trying to avoid being charged with something. Massaging balls usually has a reason...
Count the chickens after and not in response to PR.. Most of the layoff is happening in tech sector and financial sector and still accelerating.
Re:Laws of Human Stupidity on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:54PM (#50292192)
""Law 3. A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or group of people when he or she does not benefit and may even suffer losses.""

Well what if the group or the person are causing loss to that person because they benefit from it. Retaliation would demand that the person do something even though they can suffer losses.

Re:Emotion regulation capacity lacks a shared neural signature on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:50PM (#50292096)
I think that what its saying is that there is no brain pattern has been observed to detect one's ability to control one's emotion.
