Re:Twitter Fails to Grow Its Audience Again on Thursday July 27, 2017 @09:12AM (#14864882)
Maybe the audience is already grown? I mean it's being used by presidents and heads of states and is a major communication tool for businesses and governments. Maybe it's just not hip anymore.
Re:Let’s not demonize driving, just stop subsidizing it on Friday February 17, 2017 @10:59AM (#13669111)
The state of Texas is twice as big as Germany.
Hrm ok. I thought Elon was a smart man
Re:Xamarin for All on Wednesday December 14, 2016 @10:49AM (#13176827)
don't learn xamarin. it's a useless unmarketable skill. Nobody looks for xamarin devs, they look for platform specific devs
* Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women
Why would beyonce take an uber tho?
Re:Why Zuckerberg Wears the Same Thing Every Day on Monday December 12, 2016 @10:35AM (#13158734)
Maybe it's comfortable and they don't care?
Re:My Pixel has a manufacturing defect on Saturday December 10, 2016 @09:04AM (#13145673)
Customer service people aren't experts (even the higher level ones). They have scripts, list of defects and how to help you resolve them. This "bubble" is obviously something they have never seen before, unless a 1% of the phones start having this issue they will just blame you for it.
it may be part of why the failed but it's not why they failed
Re:I was a robot and this is what I learned on Wednesday December 07, 2016 @03:08PM (#13125742)
I think it's a bit much to ask that you be treated just like being there in person when you are simply controlling a small vehicle on wheels remotely.
Re:Yoga: A cross-platform layout engine on Wednesday December 07, 2016 @01:53PM (#13125091)
Looks nice but the naming is wrong. We shouldn't expropriate well known names for tech solutions
Re:Show HN: Ndm – Npm Desktop Manager on Wednesday December 07, 2016 @11:25AM (#13123691)
Node Desktop Manager (whatever that means)
Re:Show HN: Ndm – Npm Desktop Manager on Wednesday December 07, 2016 @10:40AM (#13123281)
npmDM?
Re:Pebble's next step on Wednesday December 07, 2016 @10:35AM (#13123241)
What's the point of warranties and cloud services if you can just be like "oops, goodbye"? Can they be sued for this?
Without details, it just sounds like some bullshit made up number
Re:I'm giving up on PGP on Tuesday December 06, 2016 @01:16PM (#13116910)
In otherwords, it only works in controlled environments, not out in the wild
Re:George Hotz Is Giving Away Self-Driving Software on Tuesday December 06, 2016 @09:18AM (#13114691)
it only works on 2 cars.. that have a tech package. Might as well buy it from the vendor
Re:What's wrong with Software nowadays and how we can fix it on Monday December 05, 2016 @10:46AM (#13106116)
but if you were informed about how your car worked, you would know that the 200$ "break pad cleaning" recommendation your dealer was asking you to do is pure bullshit.
Buying an internet enabled device for your home is like giving your house keys to the internet.
Re:What's wrong with Software nowadays and how we can fix it on Monday December 05, 2016 @08:59AM (#13105344)
> More and more, users are put into - sometimes golden - cages, and forced to hand over their ideas, personal information, and even identities to international quasi-monopolies that put everything into walled gardens which the creator can only access through tiny keyholes.

I don't think this has anything to do with software, it seems more like an attempt to educate the masses on the evils of facebook and twitter, but then again that isn't a software problem. You can see this kind of locking system in financial businesses like loans/mortgages, or even benign ones like the eyeglasses business.

Re:German Leaders at Odds with Industry Over Electric Cars on Thursday December 01, 2016 @12:54PM (#13081625)
You can be a city-dweller and not live in the city core.
Re:German Leaders at Odds with Industry Over Electric Cars on Thursday December 01, 2016 @11:20AM (#13080509)
The article makes it sound like electric cars are everywhere and manufacturers are still making gas vehicles.
Re:Japan plans 130-petaflops supercomputer on Monday November 28, 2016 @01:14PM (#13057247)
Every time I see one of these headlines, I think "so what?". Are we just awed by how many "flops" it has or is there some actual practical advancement we should be looking forward to?
Re:Personal data for more than 130K U.S. Navy sailors hacked on Thursday November 24, 2016 @01:55PM (#13032077)
As far as the cyber, I agree to parts of what the NSA said. We should be better than anybody else, and perhaps we’re not. I don’t think anybody knows that it was Russia that broke into the Navy. They are saying Russia, Russia, Russia—I don't, maybe it was. I mean, it could be Russia, but it could also be China. It could also be lots of other people. It also could be somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds, okay?
Re:It’s not the methods that are Agile, it’s the people on Tuesday November 22, 2016 @11:09AM (#13015016)
Agile to me has always been the way for managers to get an almost daily status of what developers are working on. All the metrics, tools, charts and meetings have been for the benefit of management not devs.
Chrome has this thing called ublock though, that's enough not to take edge seriously
Re:Intel is laying off a major portion of its wearables group on Sunday November 20, 2016 @08:11AM (#12998671)
Ever since the old guard missed the mobile wave, they don't seem to want to take any change on the "next-big-thing". If apple goes into something, they all jump right in, business case or not
Sounds like bro-science to me
Why do people connect their security camera to the internet? You shouldn't connect security anything to the internet
Re:You Are Not Paid to Write Code on Thursday November 17, 2016 @08:43AM (#12977308)
I'm pretty sure I am paid to write code that solves problems the business needs. What's this you're not paid to write code meta bullshit?
