>School is an upgrade from child labor, but I now have enough experience to know it's a downgrade from what I can learn of my own.
This might be true for you but I don't believe for 1 second that the common person is able to "learn on their own". Literally everything they want/need to know about anything is available on the internet but very, very few taught themselves to be educated.
I have longed for the universe where all and every JS/CSS stuff are done on the user side. Basically the only thing that the web provide is the very basic HTML and its up to the user to colour their experiences.
One would argue that there would be bloat -- having to install multiple extensions. But then visiting random websites is completely safe, and the only ones that we have to care about is the popular ones that many people have extensions for.
> If they put a $1000 price on a stand AND people buy it, then that's what the stand is worth
I guess, but that doesn't change the fact that its dumb.
No, like I said, I like to think that I buy the stuff that have the highest value to price ratio. I fully agree that brands have value, if I am Japanese in the Edo era or whatever, I would feel great pleasure from buying an iron made by local electric shops. But imagine if the iron explodes after every 2nd usages, you must wonder if I am making a sound decision or not.
There's a legitimate reasons to be concerned about the product choices that people make. A company putting a 1k price on a stand AND people buy it is a bad sign. We want the price of something to represent something of value, but at this point sentimental value is almost everything.
Wouldn't you agree its a problem if people are spending money on an option that have better alternatives? Call it consumer education, activism, whatever ...
Whats more, Apple is a standard setter. They make decisions that others tend to follow because they have such a huge market that everyone wants to partake in.
Just imagine if we introduce the product under a different name, would people buy them? If not then we are putting such a high price on the brand name.
I personally don't buy anything anymore...
They are practical only to the one using them. I don't care about fluid dynamics when I stir my coffee with my well-designed spoon.
Perhaps the problem is that there is no difference between 2x + 1 = 0 and 3x + 3 = 0, they are the same kind of question but in my school days we have to do all these similar tasks for ... whatever reasons.
Then again, practice is a really good way to solidify one's understanding of a concept so its a hard thing to balance.
How does it compare to servo?
Because every company ever (especially software companies) are all about making moneys and employing 1000s of new employees to curate contents isn't very profitable. They will try to automate everything even if it doesn't work because they know this is the future. Until we have perfected the art, we are stuck with this ridiculous misjudgement by the algorithm because its really, really, dumb.
Even if they do hire actual real human, they hire them as cheap labors, not as legitimate jobs (see Facebook)
Additionally, people who are targeting kids will almost definitely classify theirs as kid-safe. This is not going to help anyone. Unless parents are willing to take off these devices from their kids they will discover these videos in 5 video watches.
I don't understand why everything must "grow and adapt ...".
Can't something just stop evolving? Its not like its failing or something, we don't need everything to do everything just be good - very good - at what you do.
>Microsoft loves Linux because it makes them money. I'm not sure why anyone would expect differently.
It should really be "<X corporation> loves <Y> because it makes them money" because let's be honest, the only reason these companies make any decisions, moral or not, is to make money
They supported <any movement> and showcased these supports with events, banners, and advertisement only because that's what they _need_ to do to make _profit_.
They could easily discard all of these values the moment a government or a market said they can't do it.
Just look at all the companies bowing down to China.
