I wonder if investing in a cup holder would've been a better option
Re:Open Sauce is a confoundingly brilliant Bay Area event on Saturday July 26, 2025 @08:56AM (#44693762)
Someone tell me where to sign up because I'd love to get some funding for a new 3D printer.
Re:Claude's Character on Monday June 10, 2024 @09:57AM (#40633749)
I suppose the audience here never watched The Office.

Luckily the keyboard enthusiast community has something for everyone: https://mechboards.co.uk/products/hyper-7-v4
Re:Short Stack: World’s smallest Nintendo Wii on Wednesday April 17, 2024 @10:42PM (#40072419)
This is damn impressive. There's also a slightly more detailed build log in this forum thread: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/project-short-...
Re:WindCon2024: A Joke Too Far for Many on Friday April 05, 2024 @10:21AM (#39942693)
Perhaps the problem was that none of this actually seemed funny...?
It's referencing an image created with pornographic intent. This is not that difficult, come on.
> We believe that the history of the Lena image clashes with the extensive efforts to promote women undertaking higher education in science and engineering

This sounds pretty easy to understand to me, and like the main reason for the decision.

Re:IrfanView on Saturday March 30, 2024 @05:19PM (#39878769)
I'm with you. To me IrfanView always felt incredibly archaic and chaotic, and I never wanted to wade through its 5 billion settings to "fix" it for me. But I guess some people just care more about UX while others just want as many features as possible, and I'm glad it's there for the latter camp.
So like regular Google search results then?
This thing is gonna look great on people's shelves
Add "getting distracted by hideous vanity projects like the Cybertruck" to that list.
Re:Wintergatan Marble Machine (2016) on Saturday March 02, 2024 @11:50AM (#39573769)
Perhaps one could even apply AI and put it on the blockchain!
Because now everyone with half a brain can create hundreds of these images in minutes, whereas previously it took substantial time investment and skill.
Beautifully put. I wish this nuance was more widely understood in the current AI debate.
Rather confusing that this is seemingly completely unrelated to three.js
Re:Safe AI Image Generation on Monday October 09, 2023 @04:26PM (#37825063)
Something something binary thinking
Re:Safe AI Image Generation on Monday October 09, 2023 @11:13AM (#37821290)
It's sad that people seem to be consistently incapable of understanding this nuance; same with the "but humans also learn by studying existing work!" argument that always come up when discussing the ethics of training and datasets.
Re:DALL-E 3 is now publicly available inside Bing on Sunday October 01, 2023 @10:44AM (#37726384)
Probably another shot at some kind of universal AI assistant since Cortana didn't really take off.
Re:Raspberry Pi 5 on Thursday September 28, 2023 @08:08PM (#37697677)
You've gotta back up claims like that with at least some kind of citation or it just comes across like libel.
Re:Unity Can Get Fucked on Wednesday September 13, 2023 @12:55PM (#37498869)
They have another game in development using Valve's Source 2 engine so that'd probably be the most likely option for them.
Re:OpenAI Aquires the Domain Chatgpt.com on Tuesday September 12, 2023 @04:18PM (#37487594)
Curious that they apparently sold ai.com to Musk's venture — it used to redirect to OpenAI.
Re:Ford 021C Concept Car (1999) on Wednesday September 06, 2023 @02:39PM (#37409217)
The car is actually named after the color code for that particular shade of orange — Pantone 021 C!
Re:ZSA Voyager: Low profile split keyboard on Tuesday September 05, 2023 @11:19AM (#37392860)
You can turn it off.
Just imagining an alternative way this conversation could've gone:

A: "Glad you were inspired by our illustrations! Please give credit to the artists that originally created them though. I also think you're missing some of the painterly details that define the Notion style."

B: "This probably falls under fair use, but I agree it'd be nice to respect their artistry."

They may have been better at one point, but at least in my social circle pretty much everybody has given up on AirBnB due to numerous bad experiences and constantly complains about content now being spread across a dozen streaming services.
I find it healthiest to just avoid any discussions on HN that touch design or art. They never go well.
It would have to be like 7ft long for that.
Re:Govt warns kenyans about Worldcoin on Wednesday August 09, 2023 @05:12PM (#37068487)
I've heard it works pretty well for buying drugs online.
Re:How to find a street in 2 minutes [video] on Sunday July 30, 2023 @10:49AM (#36931699)
How dare someone mention some common sense tips as a tiny part of a video. Shameful!
