Re:Hosting git repositories on your VPS on Monday July 01, 2013 @12:50PM (#5971861)
Im in the process of moving from self hosted (VPS) git server to Bitbucket as well. Github was just too expensive for me but when I discovered that Bitbucket was charging pr user instead of pr repo, switching was a no brainer.
Re:Why Privacy Matters Even if You Have 'Nothing to Hide' on Wednesday June 13, 2012 @09:15AM (#4105696)
The problem I have with the "nothing to hide" argument is that it is aimed at secrecy and hence invalid. The issue is never about secrecy, it's about privacy, and that's a huge huge difference. "I dont need privacy because I have nothing to hide" doesn't make much sense.

I have long looked for a more crystal clear way of formulating the importance of privacy and why it's different from having something to hide.

Re:An interview with Derek Sivers on Tuesday December 06, 2011 @08:55AM (#3319237)
I started using Arch a little over a year ago. It was my first Linux distro so I didn't have much experience, and I cant recall regretting it for a single moment during the first couple of weeks. Sure, there's a lot of stuff to set up and configure manually, but I found that to be a good thing. Getting Arch up and running with everything you need is sort of a crash course in Linux. The docs are very good so I don't think the average HN reader will struggle.

Btw, I need to thank you Derek: When I was trying to decide which distro to use I considered Arch because I heard Zed was using it at the time. Then I read the interview with you on thegeektalk.com and decided to give it a shot because of your recommendation, and I've loved it from day one. So thanks!
