Re:New Apple TV 4K on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @10:02AM (#50087954)
Yes, yes it's niche. Comparing it to Apple TV is a bit strange though when Plex, jellyfin, etc have largely replaced it.
Re:New Apple TV 4K on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @12:51AM (#50082520)
People haven't been running kodi in ages. You can install jellyfin on an Nvidia shield without any issues
It only can last a couple weeks, so isn't really practical. Search for other e-ink calendar projects using the rpi zero
Re:Pixel 11 Pro Fold feels like the end of an era on Thursday August 20, 2026 @12:38AM (#49370433)
RCS is not terrible. Apple's implementation of RCS is terrible.
I've seen lots of successful large k8s installs. This same argument from the nomad crowd comes up constantly. There's a reason why nomad lost, and it's not because it's better.
Re:WWDC 2026: Apple is Folding on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @12:57AM (#48471602)
They will be using a Samsung screen, so just no. Stop repeating this false trope. Didn't happen with the vision pro, and won't happen here.
Re:I built Timeframe, our family e-paper dashboard on Monday February 23, 2026 @01:11AM (#47118700)
I built the same thing and it gets calendar updates from the Google API and weather from wunderground or AccuWeather.
Re:GPT‑5.3‑Codex‑Spark on Friday February 13, 2026 @01:15AM (#46999493)
Which is also bad compared to 5.3 codex. People don't seem to realize that this is not codex 5.3 quality. It's a large step down on the benchmarks to get lower latency.
Re:Oxide raises $200M Series C on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @01:13AM (#46971505)
They don't even have GPU systems, so...no?
They have someone in the driver's seat
Or green contexts

GBps
Re:How to Think About GPUs on Thursday August 21, 2025 @12:43AM (#44969094)
not true; there are a lot of simd instructions on GPUs
Re:How to Think About GPUs on Thursday August 21, 2025 @12:40AM (#44969081)
This is not true. GPUs are SIMT, but any given thread in those 32 in a warp can also issue SIMD instructions. see vector loads
Re:Pixel 10 Phones on Wednesday August 20, 2025 @04:56PM (#44966360)
That's quite an interesting way to explain why Apple does poorly in blind tests. The real reason though is that Apple's cameras are just not as good, but I suppose it's easier to explain away by making up biases.
there's a documentary about this, and the people who own the rights screwed over Bob and are purely there to exploit him. they have nothing to do with his family.
Re:Why I Wrote the Beam Book on Thursday June 05, 2025 @12:46AM (#44188381)
C++ and its libraries can do everything erlang does with concurrency, and faster. erlang remains niche mainly for that reason.
scott grey figured out this exact thing and more back in 2015 for maxwell, and it's been written about many times since by other people.
Re:We're bringing Pebble back on Tuesday January 28, 2025 @12:47AM (#42849249)

Re:The era of open voice assistants has arrived on Friday December 20, 2024 @12:29AM (#42468524)
As someone not that familiar with haas, can someone explain why there's not a clear path to replace Alexa or Google home? I considered using haas recently to get a gpt like response after being frustrated with Google home, but it seems this is a complete mess. is there a way to get this yet?
the new version is censored. they removed things like blowing up the rhino with dynamite
Re:The GPU is not always faster on Friday December 13, 2024 @12:41AM (#42406204)
This is totally inaccurate. There is nothing 20x slower about a GPU core unless you're nitpicking, in which case you can show those same GPU cores are 20x faster than CPU for other things.
Re:The GPU is not always faster on Friday December 13, 2024 @12:38AM (#42406191)
No. D2D is arroubd 3TB/s
Re:The GPU is not always faster on Friday December 13, 2024 @12:38AM (#42406187)
this is bidirectional bw and it's gh200, not gh100
Re:The GPU is not always faster on Friday December 13, 2024 @12:37AM (#42406179)
what does a laptop GPU have to do with a server grade xeon that the article is comparing against?
