Do any of you have a recommendation for an alternative to GitLab and GitHub?
Re:The Toyota Way on Wednesday June 26, 2019 @12:35PM (#20286593)
I've never seen Toyoda mentioned as the inventor of the lean model, I usually seen Taiichi Ohno credited for it.

Keemstar said he was offered 100000$ but turned it down. Ricegum said in his followup video that he was offered more since he has more subscribers.
Maybe you already know this but some padlocks can be easily opened using the same shimming technique.
My favorite si far is BaconReader.
From what I can gather by the maps, he's located in Quebec city in Canada and we didn't have custom plates until July 2018.
I just wanted to say that Scotia's corporate accounts do have 2FA with a physical token generator, so they do have the technology they just don't enforce it for consumer accounts.

If you enabled it (it is by default I believe), the conversations are stored in Outlook.

It sucks... but you can still get to them if you have access to Outlook.

Re:Ask HN: Alternatives to Reddit? on Thursday April 12, 2018 @08:58AM (#16820395)
It kind of is, but like Reddit, you make you're own frontpage, you have to find the right communities for you!

Thank you, I didn't expect to find a modern game with that gameplay style.
>Lands of Lore (the LoL of our time, hehe)

Thank you, I was looking for the name of that game for at least ten years.

Re:The original pitch for Diablo (1994) [pdf] on Wednesday March 28, 2018 @10:28AM (#16697902)
Well, I know what I'm doing once I get home tonight. I actually found my CDs for both D1 and Hellfire last weekend.
Re:The original pitch for Diablo (1994) [pdf] on Wednesday March 28, 2018 @10:03AM (#16697681)
"Look I'm just a cow OK?"

I believe that was from Hellfire, right? Was it the character that you could give a moose suit to?

Re:TunnelBear Joins McAfee on Friday March 09, 2018 @12:37PM (#16553359)
That was my first thought too, I hope Linus will talk about it at some point. They seem transparent and upfront about their income.
It works for me but I'm using google.ca if that makes a difference.

Edit: It worked about ten times in a row but now I have the error: "Server Error We're sorry but it appears that there has been an internal server error while processing your request. Our engineers have been notified and are working to resolve the issue.

Please try again later."

Edit2: I just realized that using the link in the article works but typing the zipcode in the search box or clicking the magnifying glass next to it in the result pages will not work.

Thank you to all those who replied.

At the top of the article you linked there's the: "This article is about time dilation due to relative gravity. For time dilation due to relative velocity, see Relative velocity time dilation."

I didn't know there were "two forms" of time dilation, knowing what to search for helps a lot.

Thanks again.

I am confused, I always thought that moving faster makes time go slower but the article says this:

"For example, a clock on top of a tall mountain — far from the center of the Earth — will move a tiny bit faster than a clock at the base of that mountain, where the gravity is stronger. It's not a mechanical error. Time itself actually passes faster at the top of the mountain."

From what I can understand from the Wikipedia article is that time does go slower the faster you move: "Special relativity indicates that, for an observer in an inertial frame of reference, a clock that is moving relative to him will be measured to tick slower than a clock that is at rest in his frame of reference."

I did a little search and half the sites I saw said one thing and the other half said the opposite.

Would anyone mind explaining like I'm five? Or maybe share a trustworthy sources I could read on the subject?

Thanks.

Re:Clicker Heroes 2 is abandoning free-to-play on Monday November 20, 2017 @09:26AM (#15740036)
Kittens is one of the best clicker games there is along with space lich omega and a dark room I think.

For those interested in these types of games I would recommend subbreddit https://reddit.com/r/incremental_games

Re:The most downvoted comment in Reddit's history on Monday November 13, 2017 @12:34PM (#15688193)
I had the opposite happen to me with my EA account.

It was stolen and I was getting emails in Russian (I think) but I didn't care (mostly because of things they do like this post) until last year when I wanted to play BF2:BC so I contacted EA's customer service thinking there's no way I could get the account back, especially after 4-5 years. They asked a couple of questions and got my account back in about 15 minutes.

I couldn't find the blog post itself but I found a Guardian article on it https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/feb/17/san-franc...
Re:Does anyone remember websites? on Monday November 06, 2017 @11:50AM (#15636742)
Some websites used to have a "webring" where they would link to each other and you could just click on "next" and it would take you to another site on the same topic.

I used to like those.

No way, Montréal will have that second HQ!

Re:American Nazis at Madison Square Garden, 1939 on Thursday October 12, 2017 @10:51AM (#15458367)
There seems to be some kind of issue with the video between 2:08 and 2:10. You can see the flags going back and forth as if someone rewind the footage. Maybe it's an editing error?
Re:My last name makes me invisible to Computers (2015) on Friday August 18, 2017 @12:08PM (#15047405)
I'm French and I see this all the time, even Outlook, given the right conditions, will gives you this in the default folders, Inbox in French is "Boite de réception".

Re:BYTE Magazine's Lisp issue (1979) [pdf] on Thursday August 17, 2017 @10:33AM (#15037110)
I have what might be a stupid question, in your second paragraph you typed "circle 1998", what does circle mean in this context? Did you mean circa? Is circle an english version of that term?

English isn't my main language and haven't seen this term before. Thanks!

Re:United States Expatriation at an All-Time High on Wednesday August 09, 2017 @10:02AM (#14968892)
Out of curiosity, can you name some of those celebrities? I know Gerard Depardieu moved to Russia, but haven't heard about others. Thanks.

I can't edit my comment but I should have ended with "If true, I wouldn't say it's a public document."
