Did they track their water usage for that day?
But this doesn't help with taxation of the rich. There are very few ways the rich can't easily dodge. Tying tax to something they actually spend money on and can't really hide it because of the scruitany on the spending of poliitcal parties would be one such additional way.
And who made those innovations? Not a lot of Western born and raised people, I'm guessing.
We can't stop them using money for influencing politics. But this way the society could get a fair residual from that activity.
Maybe donations to political parties could be just taxed at 200% (technically ~76% but 200 sounds better)?
To give a million to any party you have to pay 2 in tax.
When you cover yourself with the blanket, others see the blanket. When you cover yourself with this, others see background.
It could cloak a well insulated soldier from being a dark spot on the background.
The thing is that if you don't learn to drive some destinations are unachievable. And destination is more important than the journey unless you travel for pleasure or personal development.
I'm so glad that sanity ulitmately won in his mind.
Stupid people are driven by their inferiority complex to poison the culture with ideas that intelligence and education have drawbacks. In reality there are no drawbacks. Intelligent and educated people are as capable as others in all areas of activity and are vastly more capable in some of them. Politely tolerating insults like that and this cultural poisoning is the reason why trump is the president.
I heard it was retired because it had no military use unlike Uranium that is dual use.
Sorry, I should have said "publish it" instead of "write it".
Well, ethics is weaker, when the other is unethical in their own way.
400 euro for a book is hardly ethical. If you must charge that much for a copy you shouldn't have written it because you simply couldn't afford ro write it. Passin your poor business judgement onto others is not ethical.
Yeah, because protesting billionaire bought laws has such a wonderul track record in the West that there are scarcely any left.
To protest in most places in Australia you need a government permit.
The real question is, would their capable decision making survive in a democracy, where russian propaganda through American billionaire's media tell voters what to think and more importantly what to fear?
> MAN have you ever SEEN a working group of 80 academics?
As compared to what? A working group of 80 uneducated idiots?
If democracy doesn't work if you put smart, educated people in control then it doesn't work, period and we need to pay better attention to whatevere China is doing.
You can pick a good hash. But even at million times efficiency it's still ok because with scrapers they can generate million time more traffic than casual users.
You don't need to win. You just need to tip the scales a little bit. Even two stage request response of PoW would dissuade some scraping.
> if you want to require an attacker to burn one second of computation time, some cheap smartphone user will now be stuck for five minutes.
I don't want attacker to spend 1 second per request. I want them spend 10 ms per each of their millions of requests. You don't hit them by being request hard. You hit them by making them pay even if just a little bit for each inefficient action they take.
> Most web proof-of-work stuff has worked because it breaks the normal flow and the typical scraper is supremely dumb, not because of the proof of work, which has largely been a total red herring.
It's not really important how you win. It's important to have a control over your hosting costs in this brave new world.
> internet is largely ad-sponsored
They should tax ads then. Since that's the source of money that fuels everything they should tax at the source.
Make the companies report how many ads they run, how much they get paid on that and tax that.
You won't catch them all initially but you'll catch some and then you can gradually tighten the system.
And this will go far enough from the consumer that he might actually not notice. Ad budgets of companies are very flexible and if you hit all of them, they'll all just reduce their ad spending at no harm to anyone.
If you have an endpoint with interesting information and you don't want it spammed with requests, require a proof of work from the client, scale up the hardness of it as the load goes up. Even a hard proof of work won't slow down somebody that makes one request per second because they are reading the site but will sighificantly interfere with crawlers that hit you 10000 a second currently at very little cost to them.
The module doing proof of work might be a part of your frontend that is static and on CDN.
If you want agents still have access to your data, just not through scraping, provide alternative format for them. Like periodic sqlite dump.
Yeah, probably it wouldn't be as bad as they made it seem to be, but still, there was a reasoning behind the bailout. I see not reasoning for AI bailout.
I have no idea who would they even bailout. Investors? Why? What for? What would that change?
Bailing out banks made some sense so that they couldn't operate. Without the bailout there would be no more banks and a hundred million of people left on the ice.
If you want to keep AI operating you can just (temporarily?) ban investors from tearing down the AI companies they invested in for parts. You could say they are important for national security or something. I'm sure they are already earning enough to keep the lights on. Just not enout to give investors payback for insate capital expediture to set up.
Such ban wolud the governement zero, especially if you write the law well enough, so that it can't be succesfully challenged in court.
Hanging out, sure. With people? Ew.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away and Santa wears red.
The most interesting part of this is normal LLM interacting with directly attached deterministic computation unit.
It's like successfully wiring your brain to a calculator.
I think it would cheaply provide LLMs a lot of benefit if we embedded in them directly a computer and a memory so they can internally process things predictably.
And some benefit is indeed shown even in this cursed experiment.
If you have AI model there it can make any search engine for you as per your needs.
Qwen 3.8 27B runs well on my laptop. And I can fit terabytes of human knowledge on it.
Just few days ago I thought digital preppers are soon gonna make something like that. It's a generally good idea.
I'd put in this also a ton of software documentation, minimally for Rust.
And a bunch of scientific literature.
> probably hasn’t graded a homework set in a while
Honestly he should just tell student to grade their homework with chatGPT themselves.
Phones today have plenty of power to generate 120 screens per seconds. Capping them with a screen is a terrible idea. Smooth form a decade ago isn't the same as smooth of today.
20 years ago I was gaming at 30fps and called it smooth. Now 120Hz feels like bare minimum.
