Assuming he did fix it. I remember the time I had some annoyances with my boot loader. After several tries at fixing it, I thought "I should get a clean start, lets dd zeros to mbr!". I did recover from that but it took so much time I didn't want to ever go through anything like it again.

I never recovered from losing a truecrypt password once.

Linux from scratch taught me that Linux is magic, and that if you deviate the slightest amount from the instructions, or try to customize anything, you are in for a world of pain.

"In fact, it happened after 13 KYA. Cave art from that time always shows normally pigmented people. Notice that in this painting from 13 KYA, the hunters are the same color as the deer."

Notice how the painting is monochrome. Maybe they just didn't have the artistic skill required?

Fair point.

This is a problem that can easily be dealt with if/when it arises.

Minor problem: Zero based indexing, combined with not showing current page in navigation, is confusing. At main page I saw links to page 1, 2. Thought that 1 was current page, 2 was next page.

"Homosexuality is not a mental illness. We have finally learned this, ..."

This is an opinion, not a fact. We have changed our minds, not learned anything.

A date has a non-zero cost. If you want to weed, do it earlier. Say something embarrassing on your online dating profile maybe? Then, when the selection is done, you go into seduction mode at the date.
I have only stated my beliefs, and have not claimed to have the facts. I base my belief on this idea http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overton_window
There is a difference in doing things overtly and covertly. If they are doing it covertly they will probably think it through a lot more carefully, since the stakes are higher. And if some things that were previously done covertly but are now done overtly, it doesn't sound so far fetched that other things that were earlier not done at all are now done in secret.

I would say it is far easier to astroturf a contrarian anecdote.

N=124 can definitely give statistically significant results. Consider the following thought experiment. You have a coin that you think might be loaded. You flip it 124 times. You get 119 tails. It is probably loaded. Lets say you get 66 tails. Could definitely be due to chance. Moral: The larger effect you study, the less sample size you can get away with. It might be that people from Tampa and Miami are different in some important way from other people. However, if you want to level this criticism, maybe you should give a reason for suspecting this? "The study is just as likely to have found an isolated effect as the posters with family members who consumed a lot of coffee and still developed alzheimers." No, no, triple no.

Not even a large sample will help against systematic errors.

Jokes such as those are really bad for a good discussion. They serve to prove to people on your "side" (an idiotic notion, but I digress), how stupid the people on the other side are. I would downvote if I could.
