Re:What on Earth Is Dekton? on Friday October 16, 2026 @06:49PM (#50125822)
I used to cut this stuff as part of a previous job. Imagine a kitchen-sized cnc water jet/saw.

We had to cut a prescribed pattern out of the edges of the slab to relieve stresses. Even at 2cm thickness it was slower to cut than any 3cm natural stone.

Part of the job was smashing the offcuts with a sledge to fit more stone per dumpster. Smashing dekton is like when you get a bad hit with a baseball bat and you feel it through your elbows and shoulders. Every time, like nothing else.

I think it looks like crap. Maybe good for high traffic floors or wall treatments where weight is a concern.

Because nobody wants to be on a road/racetrack with a car that will pelt the car behind it with stones it pulls from the tarmac

Just look at crash test footage of LPG or hydrogen powered cars.

You can hate the man, but you must respect him. Flying cars have truly arrived.
Not likely. Will be treated like tiktok for government devices. There is no legal way to prevent private people and business from using open source software unless you label it like csam or something where just distributing the file is a felony.
I don't understand how an AI can be scandalized. It's just a spicy auto complete. Sounds more like it's the photographers who are scandalized.

Dear diary...
Crazy to think that, despite trump existing, the Democrats still lost two elections to him.

You're so upset that you have to invent an imaginary hypothesis to make yourself feel better.

So, a firearm?

You know, maybe cameras are good enough, and I don't want a tumor at the top edge of my phone that gets tiresome to hold after 5 minutes.
Re:Grok 4.6 on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @12:07PM (#49274637)
You may not like Elon, but you must respect him. I don't think anyone expected 6 months ago that Grok would be at the frontier and beating openAI and anthropic. Competition is good.
There were some nuclear fracking experiments where the nukes cost in the range of a few hundred thousand dollars. It's probably cheaper than you think.
You can't cut steel in half with water. Waterjet cutting requires an abrasive media like garnet to cut through hard materials. Water is simply the power source that accelerates the garnet to Mach Jesus.
If the model was so smart you'd think it would try to be a little more subtle.
Neither of those links work for me

I can't imagine claude being able to use any of these without immediately refusing.
Personification is a figure of speech. What you say is technically correct but we don't need to declare this every time humans discuss how LLMs work.
Re:Claude-real-video - any LLM can watch a video on Thursday July 02, 2026 @08:11PM (#48769065)
I have been going through this with claude and qwenvl3:8b this week. Both are pretty decent at inferring context and analyzing contact sheets. Finding high visual interest moments with a mixture of coarse and fine keyframes.
There is no consensus on what caused the bronze age collapse.

I, as a US citizen, also cannot access claude fable.
Re:Apertus – Open Foundation Model for Sovereign AI on Sunday June 21, 2026 @11:54PM (#48625455)
Is there any evidence that "a majority of society wants AI to fail"

Or is it just vibes?

Do you have an example of this?
We gave up taxpayer-funded sex reassignment surgeries for inmates for this crap.

People also defend people using guns so I guess it shakes out
Re:I’ve joined Anthropic on Tuesday May 19, 2026 @12:41PM (#48195725)
This is an extremely valid opinion.
I wonder if this correlates with people who blow whistles or play loud musical instruments at protests.
