Is the idea to add a display element like even g2? Seems like this is half of what could be a good product.
Being able to work on a commute and code (looking at the glasses's screen) would be a killer application.
My guess is someone published an extension on vscode/cursor claiming to be Anthropic when it wasn't. Kind of like me publishing an app called Youtube on the app store, being accepted by Apple and having people download my malicious app called Youtube.
Not sure I agree with this argument, it's basically saying that it doesn't matter if stuff is badly labelled as people don't care what they're using anyway. fanta can be labelled as coke and coke can be labelled as fanta because the person consuming it doesn't care if they're consuming fanta or coke.
I think in many cases people may not be very AI pilled / be looking at artificial analysis etc and might think "I'm doing this much harder task, let me use the best model" and they may infer from naming that 3.1 Pro is better than the recent flash models which would be incorrect.
Anthropic had an issue with delaying the release of a new Haiku for ages but it didn't really mess with things as it was always the weakest model and so positionally it stayed the same. If however they stopped releasing new Opus models and somehow Haiku started overtaking Opus I think it'd confuse the normie consumer.
The problem is when they stop releasing big models for so long that their small models overtake large ones.
User wise, the average person will see pro and expect it to be better. Where as companies like OpenAI have tended to release across small/mid/large such that the disparity hasn’t been large in terms of a smaller model outperforming their latest mid/large model.
I think it's things like this that are a great argument against soldered ram. Especially with memory shortages.
(Obviously there are other reasons to solder like performance)
Is there no organisation with power to police this? In the UK we have the ICO and if we're not satisfied with the response to a FOIA request we can escalate it to them.
I mean they do also provide US tech companies a lot of revenue (from EU customers).
Countries like China, Russia have largely blocked western tech and as a result domestic technology companies developed to suck up demand. Some things like having a unified capital market would help Europe. This is something they could work to solving, it's more a political question.
That would have a bunch of other consequences, e.g.
"Can you add support for all US timezones".
Does it know what the US is?
No one's claiming they don't have a right to their opinion, But just as they have a right to their opinion, I have the right to say it's silly.
I am not claiming that they must stop following their silly ideas. I am just saying they are silly.
There is a respectable way to approach this and this.
The right way is something like, we've been getting spammed with a bunch of PR's from AI that we find difficult to review (because AI allows the average bob who isn't technically minded to make a PR). We have therefore decided not to allow AI submissions.

I think the people who have some moral / ideological issue and bring that into projects kind of feel like clowns to me. I agree with Linus that the point is to make something that people find useful, and obviously you want it to be maintainable.
Saying "it makes you dumber etc" is not related to the project, with all due respect it's non of your fucking business how I learn / retain skills.
"so use vacation days and book a hotel if you have to"
As someone not from America. Damn.., I can't imagine needing to use vacation days for that kind of treatment.
The irony is, each time he doesn't get it. He takes some action that further proves why he shouldn't have it.
In a game theory situation like this, to pace the frontier you want others to aswell. That requires an "enforcer"
That's not the same as auto mode. Automode uses a model to analyse the command an d determine if it's safe. Accept edits allows it to automatically change files, but if it needs to run some bash commands it doesn't work.
Obviously dangerously skip (YOLO) is not what I'd want to go for.
I went to Runefest and was told it originally started as a mod/DLC to Dragonwilds
I imagine they could augment it with giving higher rates for some people based on things like h-index.
They might have a good model but they need to sort the application side for devs. E.g letting us use subscriptions in other harnesses and QOL stuff like auto mode.
Never thought of it, but knowing that they encrypt reasoning is it possible that they share the decryption keys with other cloud providers like GCP Vertex / AWS Bedrock?
Is it possible those are cloud providers? Someone using Claude on google vertex might just switch to Claude on AWS or Anthropic. Also I don’t imagine cloud providers suddenly cutting the cord.
Imagine a lot of insulin gone to waste.
Why are they comparing grok 4.7 xhigh to grok 4.6 high?
Unless they produce the same token output on the face of it, it looks like they're trying to cover for 4.7 not having good model perf?
> We want to make dealing with agentic infrastructure easier
> Kubernetes
Pick one.
Probably in a charitable trust that will be managed by the family. With the trust owning the shares.
Especially with AI agents being more common this would be very useful. I'd prefer to use Signal over telegram but haven't gotten around to getting another number.
Not sure if I missed something but not sure what justification he gave that Open Weights would improve safety.
The counter argument from Anthropic is easy. If we open weights we can't detact it after being published / the guard rails that run on top of the models would be lost. Also abliteration would be much easier to do when a model's been publically release.
I'm not a fan of Anthropic but the argument in the article seems stupid.
Been using bedrock agent core and seems to work fine for me. Although there might be a better abstraction.
I still can't stand the fact that in order to use their mobile app you must allow sharing data for training. No thanks will close the app and it seems like they follow the same thing with their desktop app.
Outside of that, if I want to use Gemini through the browser they link allowing your data to be trained on with persistence of chats. If I don't want my data trained on I must allow them to train on my data.
For those reasons it's pretty much unusable for me.
And if they can't give capacity, they should maybe be required to give a kind of "call option" or hedge locals energy prices linked to regular inflation.
